Going To Make Things Worst

Christian had witnessed Lanre get in a fight before. It was with the lady who had flogged Chidinma, the girl who was living with Lanre with a wire. The lady had also detained Chidinma that day when Lanre was away. All these things pissed him off. He decided to visit the woman and crumbled her business. That was the reason Lanre never got to encounter the woman again. She had lost all she had and got driven from the apartment she lived in. He loved Lanre that much. He would never physically abuse a woman, but he would make this one pay as well.

Now, having heard the woman ask them if they knew who she was, Christian knew she was one of those women who brag about their achievements or even, their husband’s achievement. He told her whoever she was is not of he business, but he will sure make her miserable. Lanre pulled him away.

“What are you saying? You are going to make things worst. We should just apologise and don’t worry, I will pay for the damage”. Lanre said she walked to the woman.

“Ma, what happened was a mistake. So we hope we can come to settlement. We will pay for the damage done to your car, but we can’t get you a new car. As you can see, things are hard in this country”. Lanre said. She gave the gathered crowd a pitiful look trying to win them to her side. With the red mark on her face an evidence of the woman’s slap, some began to pity them. They joined Lanre to beg. But the woman was stubborn. She said the car was a new car her husband got for her and that her husband is a top ranking army officer and she would call him to handle this matter himself.

On hearing the woman, Christian shook his head. She was definitely one of those women who think that because they have a husband in the army, they could mess with people or deal mercilessly with people and no harm will come to them. He made a call asking for his driver to come fetch him along Mushin road, the place where they currently are.

“Road safety people don come o!” Someone from among the crowd said. It was as if the arrival of the road safety corps drew more attention as many more people came to the scene.

Immediately the woman sighted the road safety corps, she approached them and started explaining what happened. She told them that Christian’s driver’s license should be seized and that he should be handed over to the police for deliberately hitting her car. At that point Christian told the woman he would sue her to court on the ground of physical assault pointing at Lanre’s face as well as his collar. He took a snap of Lanre’s face. Then he told the people in the crowd that they were his witness. The first three persons to appear in court to testify will be given the sum of one million naira each.
