The Funniest Thing

Mrs. Okafor sat down with a table separating her and her husband. She had a frown on her face. She looked frustrated as well. She asked her husband if he has come to bail her out or he has come to visit her as usual. He told her to calm down and exercise patient that he was walking on it. He told her they they have refused a bail, but he was trying to get to the higher ups to see if they can help.

“If they were the ones who needs help, we will help them, now no one is helping us. If I found out the person that framed me, I will kill that person and make sure his or her soul dies as well”. Mrs. Okafor said. Then she a thought suddenly came to her mind that Ify could have done that to her. The girl did not even show up when she was being arrested and has not come to visit her ever since she has been in the cell. She asked her husband if he knew the whereabouts of her niece, Ify. He told her he has no clue except that K came to take her with him.

“Do you know the funniest thing? They are yet to take me to court! And they won’t let me go on bail. That is funny! But you my husband are strange! Why have you not yet gotten me a lawyer? None of our children has come to visit, did you tell them at all?” Mrs. Okafor asked her husband. He shook his head.

“Our children has their own life to live. They have things that they are handling. They never asked their mother to put drugs in her back”. Mr. Okafor replied his wife. She got bitter.

“Okafor, you are a very useless man for saying that to me. How am I even sure that you did not plan this for one of your stupid side chicks? But let me tell you something, I am your wife and you cannot leave me in this cell or else I will expose you o”. Mrs. Okafor said threateningly.

“Shut up woman! Shut your mouth! I will leave you now. I will get you the best lawyers and look for someone to take the blame, just don’t go throwing tantrums”. Mr. Okafor said to his wife. She told him she does not want that. She does not want anyone to take the blame because she was innocent. Mr. Okafor told his wife to do as she please and walked away. Mrs. Okafor was taken back to the cell.

Mrs. Okafor began to suspect her husband due to what he said to her. How could he say she had drugs in her bag when she was not capable of doing that? What would she be doing with hard drugs?

The following day, Mrs. Okafor was asked to come out of her cell to meet with a visitor. She smiled with the thought that her husband finally sent the lawyer.
