Eno was distressed and the long turn of buses was adding to her stress. They had to take different buses and it took quite a long time before they got to where they were going to. When the lady told them they have arrived after two hours of being on the road, taking different buses, Eno breathed in relief. The lady led her into a house. On getting there, the lady introduced her to a woman, “Alhaja Fatima”. Eno frowned. She has heard of this woman, she never knew she runs an NGO. They told Eno to sit down while they both walked inside to go and discuss. Eno felt uncomfortable. They were going to discuss her if she’s not mistaken, but she was beginning to lose trust.
While Eno was seated waiting for the two ladies to discuss and come to whatever conclusion they dim fit, a lady walked in. She looked elegant. Eno looked at the lady. She thought the lady looked quite familiar. She shook her head telling herself she can’t know everybody.
“I was told Alhaja was here!” The lady said seemingly directing her words to the teenager who was seated on the chair. Eno looked up at her. She gasped. She finally realised where she had first seen this lady. It was by the side of the road. The lady was with her boyfriend and they had hit a car. The owner of the car was the wife of a soldier and the woman had slapped this lady in front of her. Only for them to find out later that the boyfriend was someone of credible status.
Eno wanted to tell the lady she knew her but she could barely open her mouth to say anything. She got to realise that the only words in her mouth were like gravels. They were words of bitterness. Eno pointed towards the direction where Alhaja Fatima and the lady who brought her went. The lady thanked her and walked in. Eno could not tell how long, but the lady soon got out without Alhaja Fatima or the lady who brought her. She pulled Eno.
“If you like your life, follow me quietly let’s get out of this place now”. The lady said to her. Eno stared her in the face. She was wondering why the lady said so. Should she trust this lady and follow her out? Or should she just act like she did not hear her and stay behind.
“Hey, you are a fine young lady. You have potentials and should not be here. Follow me out of here now. I will take you home wherever you came from”. The lady said yet again to Eno. Just then Alhaja Fatima came out with the other lady.
“Shit!” Eno heard this lady muttered. She stood up and turned to Alhaja Fatima and greeted her with a smile.
“Long time no see Alhaja? How have you been?” The lady who Eno was yet to know her aim of telling her to leave with her said.
