“No! Your cooking is fine. Maybe I got to eat too much noodles in my life and my system is now rejecting it. But if it is your cooking, you cooked the noodles so well”. Lanre said. Eno noticed Lanre was shivering. Fear gripped her heart. She feared Lanre must have gotten sick from eating the noodles she cooked.
“Ma’am, you are shivering! I think we should call your boyfriend, the man from the other day at the accident scene”. Eno said. Tears were welling up in her eyes. Lanre smiled at her and told her to forget it. She walked past Eno bit stopped as if something just struck her. She turned to look at Eno.
“What boyfriend? What accident scene?” Lanre asked. Eno fiddled with her finger. Fear had forced those words out of her mouth. She shook her head not wanting to talk. Lanre held her shoulder pushing her into the wall.
“You have been making me feel bad not talking me. I’ve come to believe you do not trust me, but it seems I should be the one not trusting you. Who are you?” Lanre asked. Her looked fierce.
“I’m Eno! I happened to be at the scene when you and your boyfriend hit a car that belonged to the wife of a soldier. That was the first time I saw you. I was surprised to see you at that woman’s place that day. But I thought your boyfriend was rich so you would know the woman. And then you took me with you after that senator bought me. I’m nobody but a student forced to leave school after her mother was killed by her father, and sold by her new neighbour to a woman who layer sold her off to a man”. Eno said. She was full of fear. Lanre shut her eyes tightly. The words that has just come out of this girl’s mouth has hit her hard. She left Eno alone and went to her room. If she had knew, she would not have pushed Eno the way she did. On getting to her room, Lanre felt how weak her body was. She crawled into her bed and closed her eyes. Her head began to spin. She wondered if it was because of the dance. Or should she worry instead of not worrying as Christian has asked her not to? Lanre started having mixed feelings.
“Ma’am, please I’m sorry for offending you. You can punish me or do anything later. But please, let’s call your boyfriend”. Eno said. Lanre wondered when the girl walked into her room. She asked Eno to leave, but her voice could only get to her and nobody else. She felt extremely weak and tired. She pointed towards the door trying to tell Eno her phone was in the living room. But Eno did not understand. Lanre decided to stand up from the bed only to find herself back on the bed. It felt frustrating to her. Tears slipped off her eyes.
