A Test Was Carried Out

Lanre beckoned on Eno to draw nearer. She muttered out to Eno telling her her phone was on the table in the living room. Eno went to get it. Lanre found it difficult holding up her phone. It felt tiring. Everything was beginning to feel tiring. She wondered why now of all times. Eno followed Lanre’s instruction and dialled Christian’s number. Thankfully it was available and Christian had answered the call. He hurriedly called Lanre’s driver to go pick her up and take her to the hospital since it will take him long before he arrives Lanre’s place, he was on the island and it would take him an hour if not more to get to Lanre. Tega did as he had instructed.

Christian arrived the hospital where Lanre was taken to after about two hours. Immediately he got there, he had rushed to go see the Lanre first before seeing the doctor. On getting to the doctor’s office, Christian didn’t know how to feel after communicating with the doctor. He did not know if he should take the news like every other news or he should feel sad. Even as he walked out of the doctor’s office, the doctor’s word’s kept ringing in his head.

“A test was carried out on your request immediately your girlfriend arrived the hospital Mr. Ayodele. Congratulations, your fiancée is pregnant!” Christian scoffs. He gritted his teeth as those words won’t stop replaying itself. He walked into the VVIP ward where Lanre is. He had placed the test result in his pocket. He sat right beside Lanre. He stared into her eyes. He reached out for her hand but could not take it. He told her he would be right back and left instead. Lanre looked at Eno who was seated on the couch on the other end. The girl seemed a little bit more relaxed than before. But now she herself was troubled. She did not like the looks in Christian’s eyes. She could not tell what it really is, but she could tell something was not right.

It was later in the evening of that same day when Lanre was getting discharged that she got to know what was really wrong with her. Her worst fears has been brought to life. She was pregnant. She could not think of any other person that could be responsible for her pregnancy aside K. Eno who had overheard the doctor telling Lanre she was pregnant thought Christian and Lanre would soon be getting married since Lanre was pregnant. She had no clue what was actually going on. She could not tell that Christian was not the man Lanre was seeing and that Lanre and Christian were just friends.

“I will go with Tega! You should go home Chris!” Lanre said with her head completely bowed down”. Christian frowned. He hugs Lanre whispering into her ears she should follow him. He told her he was taking her to his place. He doesn’t want her to be far from him since she was in a delicate situation and needed close attention.
