An Official Statement

K was on his way going back to Abuja. After keeping Ify in his house in Abuja and asking the maid to stay at the house, K had returned to Lagos to negotiate with his father on behalf of Ify. Even though she has done them wrong by releasing that video of his mother, he thought she was still Lanre’s friend. For the sake of her past with Lanre, he wanted her to be free. So he asked his father to forgive Ify using her own lies as a shield to protect her. He told his father to spare Ify for the fact that she was pregnant with his grandchild. He told the father that if she must be punished, then the engagement between them will be severed and the marriage will no longer take place. But she has to love since she was carrying his child.

“It seems you got her pregnant at the right time. If not that I was considering that she is carrying my grandchild, she would be dead by now. She would be dead for daring my family”. The Governor had said to K. He told K to make sure the engagement with Ify is no longer valid. And that the child has to stay in their family once it is born. And all entitlement Ify holds in their family will end once she has given birth. K thanked his father and left satisfied that he has achieved one thing. Now he is on his way back to Abuja. He just hopes Ify will understand the situation and not try to play the Joker game.

K didn’t have to spend much time on his trip since he took a flight from Lagos to Abuja. It didn’t take him too long to arrive his house in Abuja. He was relieved to find Ify still in the house.

“Thank God you did not run away!” K said. Ify scoffs. He smiled at her. He told her at least she was a good girl. He asked her how she was doing and asked if she was treated well by the maid in his absence. She told him she was not in a position to answer his question. She told him she was not feeling anything but numb and her anybody treated her right now was no longer of importance to her.

“You will make an official statement on your social media account, Instagram, Twitter and whatever account you prefer. Say you will no longer push through with the wedding and say you and breaking up with me. Give them a solid reason. In return, you receive I and my father’s protection”. K said. Ify scoffs. She told him she was never going to do as he had said.

“You don’t know how much pride it cost me negotiating for your life with the Governor. I even had to accept that you are pregnant with my child. Your lies sought of came in handy. The condition for sparing your life is that you will no longer be my fiancée”. K said to her.
