She Never Thought Eno Could Be Violent

Lanre lamped K a heavy slap. This got him riled up that he began to drag her out. Seeing what was happening, Eno rushed to call Christian’s phone using the telephone at home. She told him what was happening. She hurriedly dropped the phone without waiting for his reply. She locked the door meant to be the exit. All that was happening right now only reminds her of one thing, “how her father treated her mother”. She feared K would beat up a pregnant Lanre. She took a vase removed the artificial flowers that was in it. She held it up.

“Leave her alone or I won’t mind killing you”. Eno said. K looked at the young girl who was threatening his life with a vase in her hand. Lanre was shocked that Eno would say such a thing.

“Eno! Please drop it, I can handle this”. Lanre said afraid that the girl may actually do what she said. She never thought Eno could be violent.

“No! If I let you handle it, he will kill you. They are all the same, all of them women beaters. Maybe that is why his fiancée left him”. Eno said. Her hands were visibly shaking. She tried to control it but could not. She puts down her hand still holding the vase.

“Let her go, now!” Eno yelled. She was afraid that just like her mother, Lanre would not be able to protect herself from K and he would beat her up. Lanre pulled her hands away from K who seemed to have loosen his grip on her. She went to Eno’s side and took the vase from her.

“Eno, are you okay? You are shaking up”. Lanre said. She hugged Eno trying to soothe her. Then she looked at K briefly. She asked him to leave. K just stood watching. He didn’t even budge.

“I said leave! Kehinde please leave”. Lanre said. K told her he was not leaving until he accomplish what he has come for.

“He will hurt you and the baby! We can’t let him do that. We can’t let him hurt you and the baby”. Eno kept saying. Lanre hugged her even more tightly trying to convince her that he won’t hurt her. K heard Eno and wondered if the girl has gone mad or she was actually really concerned about Lanre. Does that mean Lanre is pregnant? Is this why she has decided to settle for Christian?

“Lanre what is she talking about? What baby is she talking about?” K asked.

“Why are you asking? It is not like I am your business? Please leave!” Lanre said.

“So this is it? You are pregnant with Christian’s child, that is why you are living with him. Did he force you?” K asked reaching Lanre and pulling her aggressively away from Eno.

“Kehinde stop!” Lanre yelled. But the next thing she heard was the a clattering sound and she saw blood dripping from his head. Eno stood right there looking terrified.
