I Pray So

Lanre dressed up on a Monday morning. She already called Tega to come pick her up. She felt happy she was going to her shop. It’s been a while she went to the beauty parlour. One would think she’s no longer serious with her business or that she has quit. She already had her breakfast and was now waiting for Tega’s arrival. She wonders if she should actually learn to drive now or get a fix time for Tega to be where she wants him. Perhaps it would be better she gets him a place to stay close to where she lives. She has already decided to go back to her apartment. Staying at Christian’s place will not be good for her mission. Christian would probably not even like the idea of her still working for the Governor’s wife.

Lanre looked at Eno who was all dressed up as well. She flashed a smile at Lanre. Lanre smiled back at her. She asked Eno if she got her luggage ready. Eno nods her head in response, an indication she got the luggage ready.

“Aaron will make your hair today. Then you will be going to register in school. You should continue going to school”. Lanre said. Eno nods her head. But she didn’t look happy. Lanre asked her if there was anything wrong. Eno shook her head denying anything was wrong. Lanre asked her why she suddenly looked sad.

“I wonder how my sisters are doing? That man won’t be treating them well, that is if they are even still alive”. Eno said. Lanre told her not to be negative and that her sisters will be okay. Lanre sighed in her heart. She felt bad for Eno. She knew she was lying. Eno was yet to know that both her sisters and her father were dead. Lanre had paid a private detective to find out what happened to Eno’s sisters and her father and to know if there was a way to getting the children from the man and sending the man to prison only to receive the disheartening news. So as it is, Eno is the only surviving member of her family. After beating the mother to death, Eno’s father had run away for fear of being held responsible. He had rushed to the school to get the children. He took the twins with him but had made them consume a deadly insecticide together with him. What would have happened to Eno if she was with them? If her father had find her in school as well?

“I pray so! Thank you so much aunty Lanre for taking me like your family”. Eno said suddenly crying. Lanre stood up from the couch. She told Eno to inform her once Tega arrives. She went upstairs. She could not bare seeing the young girl like that knowing she was hiding the truth from her. But this was a truth she could not even tell Eno. The girl will go berserk if she does.
