Lanre sat down in her office with her phone in her hand, held up close to her face. She seemed to be on a call. From the way she looked, the person on the other end of the phone was giving her serious instructions and she had no other option but to listen carefully. After a few rounds of shaking her head, Lanre finally spoke.
“Okay ma! I will do just that ma”. Lanre said and the call ended. She stood up abruptly and left the office. She seemed to be getting better than before. She was no longer as weak as she was when Christian had first taken her to stay in his house. She got out to the parlour told Sharon to help her go register in school after Aaron finishes with her hair. She told Sharon Tega will come pick them up later. Sharon just nods her head and watched as Lanre walked out of the parlour.
“Sharon stop looking. It won’t do you harm if you sit down since you don’t have anyone you are attending to right now”. Pascal said to Sharon. She snorted at him. She rolls her eyes and took a seat. The beauty parlour was no longer as it was. Perhaps this is the reason Lanre does not stress herself in coming anymore. They have a manager, Pascal. She would have vouch that Aaron could manage better but Lanre gave it to Pascal.
There services was no longer limited to just make-up, pedicure, manicure, makeover and hair styling. There has been an inclusion of body massage, waxing, and spa. The VIP parlour was now what they utilise for those coming for spa and body massage. It was segmented into four. And each worker had their own specialisation. Ebitari was the masseuse while they also have a masseur, “Femi”. More money has been coming to the beauty parlour as more people partronise. Even though they don’t visit much, the variety of services the beauty parlour renders is what fetches them money. Lanre also pay them weekly. This money that comes to them every week and makes them realise over a hundred and twenty thousand naira a month excluding their weekly allowances has made Sharon think less of just gaining favours from Lanre. Once you work here, you are already in favour. She has come to realise that it would be bad trying to gain favours. And rather than being at loggerheads with her colleagues, they have been working to improve the beauty parlour. The improvement in the services they render will be an improvement in their pay.
Sharon smiled. She looked towards Ebitari’s working area, the lady most be working right now since she’s not out here. They have become best friends. She liked a Ebitari a lot. Although there are times they disagree, especially when Ebitari allows people to bully her on the street. But it has been thanks to Ebitari she behaves less than a lout in the street quarrelling with whoever she feels offended her.
