Save Me The Stress

Eno pushed past the principal and went out of the classroom. She could not stand the eyes that see watching, neither could she stand the teacher who had flogged her unnecessarily. The principal looked at the teacher. He frowned, then he opened his mouth to say something but ended up shutting it. He seemed speechless. After battling with what to say, he asked the teacher and the student who was sitting next to Eno to see him in his office. Then he pointed at a random male student in the class asking him to tag along. Then he asked the young man to go find Eno and make sure she follows him to the office.

The boy left to go look for Eno while the teacher and the girl who sits next to Eno tagged along with the principal to his office.

Eno jolted up when a hand touched her back. She had not heard any footsteps and therefore didn’t know someone was behind her. If not that she was seated when the hand touched her, she would have probably fallen off the stairs. She looked at the young man who is obviously a student. She could tell she has seen him in her class too. But she does not know his name.

“The principal wants you in his office”. The young man went straight to the point. Eno told him she was not going. The boy twisted his lips.

“It will be better you go and not stress me. I hate things like this. I don’t know why the principal chose to send me to call you to his office. I just know I do not want to walk back and forth these stairs all for an errand”. He said to Eno.

Eno frowned. She wiped her tears and then was about following him to the principal’s office when another idea came up. She told him she was no longer going. She asked him to tell the principal he did not see her.

“Do you think you can send me on an errand because I was sent to fetch you? I don’t help people to lie. Just save me the stress and follow me”. He said to her. Eno sighed heavily. She followed him after much contemplation.

When they got to the principal’s office, Eno saw that both the teacher and the student who sits next to her in class were there, it made her uncomfortable and she wanted to leave.

“Stand at the right young lady”. The principal said to Eno addressing her as “young lady”. Then he called the boy forward and asked him to tell him what happened in the class.

The young man was taken by surprise. He was not expecting that from the principal. He did not see it coming, being asked to narrate what happened in the class. He was lost himself. He didn’t know where to start from. He didn’t even know what started the issue between the teacher and Eno. He is just one of those students whose minds were never in class.
