Making Jest Of Her

Lanre woke up to find out that she was all alone in the hotel room. She searched everywhere including the balcony, there was no K around. She sat down on the bed wondering what to do. She can’t continue staying here like a captive. She has to run away before K returns from wherever he went. She decided to first search for her phone. She searched everywhere for it except the closest place to her which was the stool right beside the bed. It was after she got tired of searching that she found the phone lying there on the stool. She wondered if the phone actually got repaired. She could not find any changes in the phone. She switched on her phone. She smiled, happy that her phone was now in her hand. Even if she does not have her purse with her, she could just go to any POS stand and make a transfer in order to get cash. But how was she going to get out of the hotel room?

Lanre decided to make use of the telephone. She no longer cares what happens. She called for room service stating that she wanted to get her laundry done. By the time the hotel attendant got to the door, Lanre realised that her efforts were nothing but futile. The hotel attendant could not open the door. And Lanre could not open it either. She had asked the hotel attendant to get a spare key saying her boyfriend must have thought she would sleep for long and left with the key. Lanre was completely clueless the only access to getting in was a card.

Worse came to worst when the manager of the hotel arrived and asked the attendant to leave and that no one was allowed to hang around that place. It turns out K had given an instruction and the manager must have been alerted by the securities from the control room. Lanre felt frustrated.

Seeing that she could not get out. Lanre decided to call Eno’s phone. She needed to talk to Eno and at least let her know that she was alright. She knew Eno would be worried. She dialled Eno’s number.

When Eno answered the call, Lanre could feel the joy in Eno’s heart. She realised Eno was in tears when she was talking as well. If she was crying this much now, she wondered how much she would have cried when she did not find her last night.

“Eno are you crying? I thought you are a big girl? Did someone beat you or something?” Lanre asked pretending not to know why Eno was crying.

“Aunty Lanre you are wicked! Why did you live me all alone in the house and left your phone on flight mode? Why are you only calling now? Didn’t you know that I would be worried? I thought something bad happened to you”. Eno said crying. Lanre felt the atmosphere was too dense. She decided to continue making jest of Eno so she would stop crying and laugh.
