Tell Your Husband

“Mom it is not about the tribe, it is the individual! Not the tribe for crying out loud”. K said. He felt sick to the bone wondering when the issue of tribalism will come to an end. But in Nigeria, it doesn’t seem like it will ever come to an end. Well it will if the sea of heads in the country could be of the same water. But everyone with a different mindset. And most of them have been corrupt by the wrong things and belief. The day the minds of people begin to evolve, then the country will become better.

“You know what, I’m leaving. See you later. Please tell your husband to call his son when next you see him”. K said to his mother referring to his father as though he was talking about someone else. The mother shook her head as she watched her son leave.

“Stubborn boy”. She muttered. She noticed he returned. A smile crept into her lips. Maybe he has changed his mind.

“Mom I want to beg you for one more thing. Please, do not call Lanre to come to work. Find another makeup artist or whatever she was to you. Take it as though she is resigning. If you ever what to call her, then call her as your daughter”. K said and dashed off before his mother could even make comprehension of what he said.

Olasile stood looking confused. What does her son mean by she should take it as though Lanre has resigned and she should only call Lanre as her daughter? Lanre is not her daughter!

Olasile sat down on the nearest couch still wondering what K meant. Why would he tell her to find someone else in place of Lanre?

Not being able to comprehend his words, Olasile called K’s phone. But he did not pick. She became worried that she would not be able to satisfy her curiosity in time. She desperately needed to know what her son was talking about. Especially since she was yet to forget what Ify said to her regarding Lanre and K.

Meanwhile, K was driving back to the hotel. He was driving so fast that one would think he was on the highway where there where no pedestrian crossing or where no humans exist. He didn’t care how roughly he drives, he just wanted to get to the hotel and be sure Lanre was there.

When he got to the hotel, he hurried up to his room. If he could make the elevator move faster than it does, he would have done so. But he could not. He had to wait out that time. But when he got to the room, there was no more need for running or rushing to get there. He was satisfied seeing Lanre on the bed. She was not sleeping. She had just laid down with her head resting on a pillow while her fingers were busy typing on her phone. K got closer to realise that she was playing a game with her phone.
