I Can't Lose You

Lanre stepped back a little from K. She looked up at him and asked him if he meant what he just said. He told her he meant every single word. K was expecting her to sit still after he has assured her, but instead of that, she told him it was the more reason he should let her go. This made K threaten to tie her up if she keeps insisting on leaving. Lanre sat down.

“I can’t lose you, nor am I ready to lose our baby. So I need you to stay here and do nothing”. K said. He had Lanre’s phone in his hand. He kissed her on her forehead and then left.

Lanre felt useless that she could not do anything to help her mother. Having seen that video, seeing how her mother’s shop got destroyed and how her mother was being maltreated, Lanre felt a surge of hatred in her heart for Ify. Before it was just mere dislike. But now, Ify has managed to earn her hatred.

“People who get to this part of my list, they end up hating me in return. And they are not much because I do not like keeping enemies”. Lanre muttered. She asked herself if she should adhere to K and stay in the hotel room or if she should look for a way to escape. For the first time she thought there’s no way she won’t be able to get out if she meant it.

Meanwhile, K had driven down to his house to go meet Ify. He had a serious look with anger evident in his eyes. But Ify failed to see it. She told him how happy she felt that he had come. Then she tried to let him know her motive behind asking him to come. K stopped her by asking her what her agenda was for sending Lanre that video threatening her life.

“Did Lanre tell you about this shit? It is not as you think. This is a different case. I did not do that”. Ify said trying to explain to K. He asked her to save her explanation for herself. He told her to go get ready. And that he was going to make her pay. Ify told him she did not cause this to Lanre’s mother and that it was her aunt doing all these.

“You sent her video, was that also on your aunt’s instruction?” K asked. Ify told him that was just the case. He sighed. He told her to call her aunt over the phone. Ify did. K got to speak with Mrs. Okafor. He told her he gave her three days. He wanted her to release Lanre’s mother and let go of Mrs. Olayinka.

“This game is between me and Lanre. I wonder when you got to act as Lanre. Do not tell me you are leaving my sweet and kind niece for a woman Lanre”. Mrs. Okafor had said to K. He warned her not to say shit about Lanre.
