From when the party started till when they finished and Eno was set to leave with Greatness, Eno kept wishing they were back in the game room. It was more suffocating getting to talk with strangers all because you need to return their hi(s) so you don’t look rude. She felt as though she would lose consciousness each time someone talks to her. And getting introduced as Isaac’s classmate earned her the question she hates giving an answer to.
“Are you his girlfriend?” It felt annoying to her. They asked as though it was a taboo for a girl to attend her classmate’s birthday because he is of the opposite sex. She hated it when a lady approached Greatness and asked him about his family background because he was chatting with who she believed was his daughter.
“Rich people make me sick! They ask theost silly questions”. Eno had said. She felt it would be nice if they did not act that way, but they were like that. Of all the people she came across that day, she only liked the free spirited mother of Isaac, Mrs. Ademola. But the rest, she abhorred.
“How did you guys enjoyed the party?” Tega asked when he had come to pick them up. Greatness told him it was fun. But Eno did not withhold what was in her mind.
“A lot of rich people are full of themselves. Especially the women. And those teenagers, I don’t even have words for them. If they are not going to say something meaningful, why bother you at all?” Eno said.
Tega laughed. He told Eno if he did not know better he would believe Lanre had given birth to her at a very early age or she was Lanre’s younger sister. Eno did not say anything. Greatness snickered. He thought it was true as well. Eno was acting like Lanre.
Tega dropped Eno at home while Greatness left with him. Greatness has been in his custody since Lanre brought the boy with her that night when he had stolen her purse. He does go home to his parents. But he has never stayed there over a day since he started staying with him.
After Tega had dropped Eno off, ok their way to Tega’s place, Greatness decided to speak up.
“Uncle, I want to learn how to paint. I know how to draw. I want to do all those big paintings”. Greatness said to Tega. Tega felt something in his heart.
“What about the work you are learning? Will you abandon it?” Tega asked him. Greatness shook his head.
“Eno told me I can take painting as my side hustle. But I love art. I want to do it. Even if I will not make money from it”. Greatness said yet again. Tega sighed. He told Greatness he should have spoken on time and that he would relayed this to Lanre when they were at her place. Greatness bowed his head. He was too ashamed to say it in front of Eno after he told her he had no interest and did not understand art.
