Weird

“I look pathetic! After saying you should not pity me, I’m crying like this”. Eno said. She looked at Chidinma with her eyes full of tears. She told Chidinma not to sympathise with her no matter what she does and how she cries. Chidinma told her she won’t do any of that and that she was only going to listen. Eno forced a smile and continued.

“I was angry, sad and frustrated. I was scared of staying in the house alone that might. I ran out of the house at midnight. We had a new neighbour. I don’t know how she noticed, but she followed me. Then she took me in. The following morning she told me she was taking me to an NGO that would help me. She ended up selling me to Alhaja Fatima, Lagos state women coordinator. That was when I saw aunty Lanre for the second time. She had come to look for Alhaja. I recognised her but she did not recognise me. She went in and came out asking me to leave the place with her. I did not understand so I stayed put. She ended up leaving without me because Alhaja had come back outside”. Eno said. She took a pause and looked up.

“Later that evening, I was sold out to man. It was senator Ojo. When I got to the hotel, aunty Lanre was there. She took me with her and left”. Eno said. Then she continued by telling Chidinma how she did not trust Lanre for a while because she thought Lanre was also into human trafficking and selling of sex slave. She told Chidinma that she did not even speak with Lanre for two weeks.

“I understand. If it were me, I would probably have done the same thing”. Chidinma said. Eno told her that she was a talkative and probably may not have done the same thing. She told Chidinma that even if she kept mute, she may not have lasted three days keeping to herself.

“I do have self control! I’m a very disciplined person. I learnt a lot of things from aunty Lanre. It is because I like you already that you get to see this side of me”. Chidinma bragged. Eno laughed. She stretched her hands towards Chidinma.

“Sisters!” Eno said. Chidinma was confused for a while until she recalled that she had wanted to shake hands with Eno saying they were now sisters, but Eno had rejected her hand.

“You are quite weird. But it makes me like you more. Sisters!” Chidinma said and shook hands with Eno. After which the both of them hugged each other.

Chidinma jumped up from the bed. She told Eno to stand up as well and that she they needed to prepare the room for Lanre. Eno frowned but did as Chidinma had said. They arranged the room together making it conducive for Lanre. But after everything, Lanre insist that she will sleep in Pearl’s room together with pearl. And that the two girls should use Chidinma’s room.
