HANGOVER

She woke up by 7:00 A.M. on Monday morning. Her phone and alarm were ringing at the same time. She had slept all Saturday and Sunday, but she still felt like she was thrown down a ten storey building. Her whole body ached. She didn't really know why, but then, she started recalling what she was going through.

           Noah dumped her!

She tried to get up but the pain throbbing in her temples was so intense that she saw stars. She slowly eased out of bed sideways holding her head. The room was still dark because the thick curtains were still drawn. She went over and drew the curtains and the light hit her eyes, almost blinding her. She made it to the bathroom and had to hold on to the sink to keep from falling. The whole place was spinning. She turned the faucet and water gushed out, but she couldn't bend without her head killing her.

She cupped her hand and water ran into them. She splashed water on her face hoping it would calm her down. She walked away from the bath and headed to the kitchen on bare toes. Her chest still felt like a heavy mass has been placed there and she couldn't wait to heave it off. She took a wet napkin from the kitchen cabinet and placed it on her head. She didn't want to wake up anymore. She just wanted to lie in bed forever.

She went back to the room, ignoring the person calling her and fell back on the bed. She would just text Shelby that she was sick and couldn't make it to work. She laid there contemplating whether to text Shelby or not when she slept off.

It was 12:00 P.M. when she woke up again, her phone was ringing incessantly. She needed more Maalox, her stomach was hot and burning, screaming for carbohydrates. She sat up in bed and took her phone from the nightstand. Nora, her best friend had given her forty missed calls since Saturday and Shelby had given her twelve just this morning. What was wrong with these people? She wasn't dead or something.

She opened her texts and was shocked by the tons of messages her best friend, Noah and her assistant had sent. Noah wanted to know if she was okay. He asked her to call her best friend. She climbed down from bed, wishing she had put her phone on voicemail. She managed to go over to the living room and called Tummy's Delight few blocks away and ordered sausage and egg sandwich and a milk shake. While she waited, she called her assistant.

Shelby answered almost immediately.   “Oh, thank goodness, Faith, you've got us all worried!“

“Us?" Faith mumbled, rubbing the back of her neck.

"Nora had called the office like the one thousandth time since Saturday."

“Oh, I will talk to you her. “

“Err...Faith I'm sorry, but I am worried about you. Are you okay? Is it your ulcer?“

“Shelby, I appreciate that you are looking out for me, I'm fine. I just feel a little down. But, once I rest and take some medications, I'll be fine. “

“Alright, I'll cancel every appointment for today.“

         “Yes, please. “

         “Take care of yourself. “

         “I will. Shelby. “

          “Yes?"

         "Thank you."

        “You are welcome. Bye. “

        “Bye."
