Once the woman was out of the office, she went back to her desk and bent her head. She couldn't still accept it. She picked her phone one more time and dialed Noah again. It took her to voicemail again.
“Hey, Noah, it's me again. I have been calling you since last night but you weren't answering...Noah, I know you are listening to this but you don't wanna answer me... “ she broke down again.
After a while, she blew her nose in her neat napkin and dialed Noah again.
“Hello, Noah...I'm sorry that I yelled earlier. I was...I was...I...alright, I just need to know that you are okay...“
After a while she dialed again.
“Hey, Noah, I...I just called to let you know I'm sorry. I have changed okay. I will let you touch me even when you have not showered. Please come back... “
“Alright...Noah, I just need to know you are fine. Call me when you get this... “ she said after another while and waited.
Her phone didn't ring, she didn't get any messages from Noah. She looked at her engagement ring and started crying again. A knock came at the door of her office and Shelby her assistant came in hurriedly.
“Faith, I have been waiting for your signal to send in the next person, but...“ her voice trailed as she saw Faith's face. “Are you alright?"
Faith nodded before answering. "I'm fine Shelby."
“No, you don't look fine. “
Faith shot her a sharp look. “I am fine! You don't tell me how I feel, you have no rights!“ Faith snapped.
“I'm sorry," Shelby muttered and started leaving the office.
"Cancle every other appointments for today," Faith added.
“Alright.“ Shelby hurried out of the office.
Faith took a deep breath when Shelby left. She leaned back on the chair and rested her head on the back rest. What was wrong with everyone? Why was everyone trying to know what was wrong with her? Why were they particular about her? She was the counselor here, not anyone else. She could handle things her own way, or could she?
Maybe, it was because no one had really seen her grief before. But if she was having a bad day or a difficult day, she didn't have to transfer aggression to anyone. She sighed, sat up and gathered her belongings. She needed a long, long sleep. She had never been happier that it was a Friday. She would sleep through out the weekend, if Noah didn't come back or as much as reply her messages or return her calls.
She took her blazer from the hanger in her office. Drew her blind, picked up her laptop and grabbed her keys from the table and headed out of her office. Shelby was at her desk at the reception and there was no one seated there. She was relieved.
“I'm leaving early today, and please no personal phone calls... “ She said to Shelby and started towards the elevator but halted and turned to Shelby. “Shelby, I'm sorry for snapping at you earlier.“
Shelby smiled. “I understand. Call me if you need me. “
Shelby was the kindest person she has met. She managed a smile and went into the elevator.
