After work that day, Faith decided to give herself a treat. She went over to a restaurant and bar that was few blocks away from her house. She didn't want to go home and be lonely. Loneliness only made her think of Noah and thinking of Noah was drinking to stupor. She didn't want to drink anymore, it wasn't good for her health.
The restaurant was filled with people, different people, especially couples, eating and drinking. She didn't feel alright seeing people happy together. Noah was on the faces of the men in the bar. She managed to get a lone table at the back, by the edge and was grateful that she got that table. She felt the table was specifically for her.
It was hidden and was unnoticeable. She could sit there and cry and no one would notice, plus she could be able to see anyone who comes into the restaurant, but they won't be able to see her. She motioned for a waitress to come over her table and her phone started buzzing again. She took it out and looked at the screen, it was her friend Nora. She rolled her eyes and shoved the phone back into her pause.
Nora had called her for like the fiftieth time since morning, but she didn't want to talk to Nora. She knew that all Nora wanted from her was to say the date she would be coming over to LA. She wondered how Nora could come up with such idea. She had built her life here in San Francisco, her clients were all here, moving to another town means starting from the drawing board.
She placed her order and the waitress went away to get what she ordered. She leaned back on the seat. There was a headache throbbing her temple, she had had it for days now and it just stayed there permanently
now. She rubbed a gentle finger on her temple and saw two people enter the room.
Her brain didn't register who they were at first, but she knew it was a guy and his female lover and she was already tired of seeing lovers. But, she was caught by the build of the man, his curly hair, his height his biceps... It was Noah, her Noah with another woman and they were looking all loved up. She narrowed her eyes and peered at them to make sure she was seeing right, but it was Noah with another woman, smiling happily.
He had moved on. He is not hurting. I'm hurting alone, she thought. Different thoughts starting running around her head and the hot tears ran down both cheeks. She felt like bursting out, but she didn't want to create a scene and she didn't want him to see how vulnerable and messed up she was. She held her breath, trying to calm down, but her chest was moving up and down in spasms of cry.
"Here’s your order ma'am," the waitress came over with her order.
"Err...can I get it in a take away please."
"Alright, I'll be back in a jiffy." The waitress disappeared again.
Faith watched as Noah and his lover took the table before her. She held her chest, trying not to let it burst. The waitress reappeared again, thankfully. She handed the girl her bills and hurriedly stood to leave, her purse fell from her laps, she bent over to pick it and suddenly, her legs wobbled, unable to control herself, she fell over, knocking her chair down. A few people turned towards her, including Noah and his lover.
She picked herself up and looked at Noah, his eyes were on her. She nodded her apology to the people around, grabbed her dinner and hurried out of the restaurant.
