FAITH AND ETHAN

Her stomach was hurting and she had a doctor's appointment today. She started climbing down from the other side of the bed, ignoring Ethan.

"Can I make it up to you?"

"I don't need it, just stay away from me."

"As long as we are living in the same house, we would never stay away from each other. Things like this would always make us stay in each other's business."

She went over to the medicine cabinet and took out the Maalox liquid, she gulped down the last liquid in it. "Just go to your room."

"Are you even listening to me?"

       "No, I'm not."

"How will I make it up to you?"

       "Just leave me alone."

"I won't leave you alone until you say how to make it up."

She took her towel and started for the bathroom, but he stood up quickly, walked up to her and in front of her, it startled her, she let out a short shriek and fell back and lost her balance. He caught her wrist, drew her towards him and wrapped his arm around her waist. She looked at him with shock in her eyes. He stared into her hazel eyes, her confused face and she looked even more beautiful to him.

His phone rang, interrupting them. He took it out of his pocket and nervously slid to the green button without checking who it was. She picked up her towel that was on the floor and ran straight into the bathroom.

"Hello," he said into the phone, looking away from her and heading towards the door.

She shut the door of the bathroom, bolted it and leaned back on the door. What just happened? This apartment was becoming too hot for her and it was no longer conducive. She didn't know how a man that ignored her for some days suddenly became interested in her and even made her heart race.

He had a girlfriend, yet he won't let her be. One thing is certain though. Just as Nora said, she was not leaving her house for anyone anymore. Just like this one ran so will they all run. She turned up the shower and stepped back to remove her clothes.

"Hello, Ethan, long time no see."

Ethan removed his phone from his ear and looked at the screen, it was his mother's number, but he had not saved it on his phone. This was his new number, how did she get it?

"How did you get my number?" he asked.

"Ethan, look how terrible you speak to your mom. How have raised you?"

"I'm sorry mom, how are you doing?"

"You know the answer already. When are you back? Have you seen someone yet? Where are you at the moment?"

"Which do you want me to answer?"

"The second one— Ethan answer all of them! Why have you not been answering your calls?"

"You have asked another one when I have not answered the ones you asked?"

"That's because I'm dying to see you."

"Mom, I'm in a meeting right now, I'll call you after that."

            "It's not tru...?"

Tom hung up, cutting off her words.
