THANK YOU

The master bedroom was big enough for two king-sized beds but the women were there and Ethan didn't want to go in there, so he asked the company people to keep the bed somewhere in the living room. They apologized for being late. He pretended like he had accepted the apology so that they could leave. Once he saw them out of the door, his cellphone began to ring. He fished it out of his pocket and looked at the screen. It was an unknown number.

He slid to the green icon and placed it on his ear while he signed the paper the furniture company wanted him to sign.

       "Hello," he said.

"Hello, Sir. Its me Tyler, your assistant."

A frown creased his brows as he started walking towards the couch to seat. "Tyler, why are you calling."

"It's your mom, she has threatened to fire me if I don't tell her where you are...and I'm not calling with my line, because she has all my lines bugged."

       "What? Is she that serious?"

"She is very upset. She carries it out on me."

Ethan closed his eyes and rubbed his eyelids. "Tyler, I'm sorry, if you feel the pressure on you. I'll speak to her and tell her to leave you out of this alright?"

"I don't wanna lose my job."

"You have my word, you won't lose your job."

       "Alright, thank you so much."

Ethan hung up and contemplated on dialing his mother's line. He knew his mother would be tracing his call to know where he was. He was just going to be brief. He remembered he had bought a bumper phone, to speak with his mom, so he won't be traced. He went to the chest where he put his letters and took it out.

He dialed his mother and waited. It rang thrice before she answered.

"Hello," his mother said from the other end.

He reminded mute, not wanting to say anything. He knew his mother was able to convince him to come back, but he wasn't going to do that.

"Hello, who is there?" his mom's voice asked from the other end.

He closed his eyes and removed the phone from his ear. Opening them again, he saw Faith standing in front of him, glaring at him. He ended the call and looked at her quizzically.

            "What?"

Faith managed to control herself from rolling her eyes. Nora had talked her into this and had made sure she did it when she was around. He thought she was listening in on whatever discussions he was having on the phone and why was he having a bumper phone? That was not even her concern or should she be concerned?

"I came to say thank you to you for helping me out today, I really appreciate. The food and the oatmeal, you went through all that trouble to prepare for me."

Ethan stared at her for a while. He knew that the apology was instigated. He let out a huff.

"Do you really appreciate or you were forced to appreciate?"

"Are you accepting the the thank you or not?"

He waved her off. "I don't really need the fake 'thank you', I did what even Satan would have done if he was in that position. You don't need to thank me for the food, I ordered it anyway." He stood up and left her standing there mouth agape.
