LOVERS

Ethan stared at the two women for a while before going into the kitchen. He went over to Charlotte and looked her straight in the face.

       "Are you alright?" he asked.

        "Yes, I am," Charlotte replied.

"Do you want to stay here? You can leave and come back later."

"Don't worry I'm fine, trust me."

"Alright, what can I help you with?" Ethan asked and looked at the turkey. "Are we having Thanksgiving at home today? Why are we eating a whole turkey?" Ethan asked and Charlotte chuckled.

Faith rolled her eyes and turned away from them. Noah had been like this with her. The memories tugged at her head. What was fate doing to her? Why was he behaving like Noah right now?

She was in the kitchen that night and Noah had come back and didn't enter the kitchen. He had gone straight to the bathroom and had taken his shower. When he came back to the kitchen, he was smelling so nice and Faith had been dressing chicken that day. Noah had come in and had hugged her from behind.

"I am the one that had taken my bath, but you are the one that is smelling nice," Noah had said in her ear, kissing her earlobe.

She had jerked at that. He knew how to get her feet watery even with words alone. She had smiled and had turned to face him. He had wrapped his arms around her waist and had drawn her closer to him. He had placed a kiss on her lips.

"Unfortunately, I can't hug you back, my hands are messy," she had said with a burst of light laughter.

"I don't care." He had hugged her tighter and had seen the chicken behind her. "What party are we having today that you wanna cook a whole chicken?"

"Party of the two of us. Just call it an earlier Thanksgiving."

Noah had laughed at that and had disentangled himself from her. "Where can I help?"

"You can just sit right there and tell me about your day. I hope you saved your dirtiest jokes for me?"

"Yes ma'am." Noah had dragged the long stool from under the table and had sat down.

She wiped the tears that were trekking down her cheeks as she heard Ethan and Charlotte laugh. It was loneliness that had made her talk to Charlotte like that, she was bitter, she was jealous that Charlotte was having her best life. She just missed Noah.

It wasn't Charlotte's fault that she was dumped. Charlotte has never known her before now and couldn't tell what she was going through. The truth was that she had been mad at herself, she was always thinking about Noah each time she goes into intimacy with Ethan and she was always angry herself for letting Noah ruin her.

Yes, he had ruined her completely, he had ruined her happiness. Could she ever be happy? As long as lovers were concerned, they would remind her of a time she had once loved and been loved like that. She heard them laugh again, but she dreaded turning.
