MEETING CHARLIE 2

Her brows drew together in a frown. He looked at her like he was trying to remember her but he picked the files and stood. He was tall, handsome and chiselled. Neat dark pompadour hairstyle, thick dark brows and eyelashes, sexy brown eyes, squared jaw and neatly shaven stubble. He wore a white shirt and pants— a nurse uniform.

He was the guy that Nora had shown her on her phone the other night. He looked more breathtaking in person. She wondered why she was meeting charming guys these days. A smile creased his face, but he narrowed his eyes and tilted his head back. She knew he was thinking of where he had met her before.

"You strick me as familiar," he said still appearing like he was searching his brains.

How would you remember me when you are looking at my real face? "I...don't think I know you," Faith said with a slight smile instead.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't looking." He gestured to her handbag.

"It's not a problem, we were both careless."

"Alright, I'm Charles Anderson, but most people call me Charlie." He stretched out a hand for a shake.

         "Faith, I'm Faith."

"Alright, I have never met anyone called Faith, but my friend's sister is Faith…"

Faith's phone went off again and she took it out this time, cutting him off. It was Nora, why was she calling her? She made to answer the call. "Sorry, I have to take this," she said as she started to slide to the green button, but Nora ended the call.

"Hey, babe!" Nora hollered behind the man named Charlie.

Charlie turned. "Hey, Nora," he said.

Nora walked up to them. Her hips are so obvious in her uniform. She looked from Faith to Charlie and back to Faith.

"I see you have met already!" she said cheerfully.

Charlie looked at her and looked at Faith. "You know each other?"

"Of course! This is my bestie right here."

"Oh, the one you showed me on phone."

            "Voilà!" Nora said.

Charlie turned to Faith. "No wonder, she looked pretty familiar. We were destined to meet." Charlie brought out his hand again.

Faith took it with a smile, giving Nora a you're-gonna-die-today look.

"I would say you rather look..." Charlie searched for words.

Faith smiled. She didn't blame him. No one would see her in that picture and recognise her now. "Plain?" she offered.

"No, different... Different in the sense that you look prettier."

Faith rolled her eyes in her head and struggled to keep her eyes steady. She knew he was just trying to sound nice, but the last thing she wanted was someone to be to her. She managed to keep her smile.

"Faith, it's my pleasure to meet you, I'll love your acquaintance. Nora is my good friend and she would give me your contact if that's okay with you."

Faith wanted to say that she wasn't okay with it, she wanted to tell him that she was with his number but had not called him and she was never planning to call him. But Nora jumped in.

"Of course, she doesn't mind," Nora said and eyed her to accept it.

Because, she didn't want to sound nor look like a sadist, she nodded. "Oh, I don't mind."

"Alright, I have to go submit these for the people that would be on duty tonight," Charlie said and raised the file."

"Alright, see you next time," Faith said and Charlie walked away.
