DINNER PARTY 2

Faith glared at Nora as she scampered away, smiling at her. Faith would have given her the fingers if the place was not crowded with these businessmen and women and if a few of them were not stealing glances at her. Now, she was conscious of the pair of eyes that were casting looks at her and some of them won't remove their eyes when she looks, they would wink at her instead. She won't even smile and most of them were with their partners.

She scoffed. Pigs in suits. By the time she had scowled at two to three of them, she had been convinced that she would pour wine on any one of them that approached her. She tried sipping from her glass and realized that it was finished, she looked around to find a waiter for another glass. Then someone walked up behind her, she felt it, that feeling, her hair stood on an edge, but before she could turn around to see who the person was. The person hugged her from behind and whispered in her ear.

        "Play along."

That whisper sent chills down her spines and she stood still, aware of the manly body behind her, aware of the strong arms that circled her, aware of his soft breath on her neck.

         "You look perfect tonight."

Her heart tumbled down from her chest. She would have thought it was Noah if she didn't recognise the voice too well.

                Ethan Floyd!

She tried to turn but he held her to a place and whispered in her ear again. "I said to play along."

        "What are you doing here?"

"You are my perfect match tonight."

Her heart raced and those butterflies fluttered in her stomach like she was a hormonal teenage girl that was hearing those words for the first time. This might be Noah, adopting Ethan's voice. That was what Noah usually told her.

       "Let me turn," she said.

"A lot of eyes are on us right now and I don't want you embarrassing me, so promise me that you are gonna turn slowly and with a smile on your face when you turn and don't yell at me."

Without being told, Faith knew that they had drawn quite the attention of those around them.

     "I promise."

"Now, turn slowly with a smile."

She turned slowly with a smile, making sure he saw that she was smiling. Her smile gradually faded, not because she didn't want to talk to him, but because it was truly Ethan Floyd, he stood there looking extremely handsome, with his spiky hair, his eyes, a pool of green-emitting from his pupils, smiled at her from his cheeks, his stubble neatly shaven and lined. He wore a black tuxedo, she didn't know how long she drooled but he spoke to her.

        "Wow, you look...breathtaking."

She smiled again. If she was the flirty type or if she was as audacious and free-spirited as Charlotte or Nora, she would have smiled and asked him.

Do I take your breath away? But she smiled instead and muttered a thank you.

"You don't look bad either, but what are you doing here?"
