I'M A BAD PERSON

Faith sat there staring at the woman, but not hearing what she was saying. The woman was narrating something about how her best friend slept with her husband. Faith couldn't even say anything because she was guilty of the same crime.

She knew that Charlotte came back with Ethan yesterday, she had heard them come in and she had heard Charlotte's voice but she couldn't come out. She couldn't face Charlotte.

"She was my best friend and I trusted her so much, that was my greatest mistake. So I don't know what to do now, what do you think?" the woman asked.

Faith waited patiently on the table at the bar tapping her fingers. She had called Charlie to talk to him about what happened between her and Charlotte yesterday. They decided to meet after work. When the woman had asked her the question of what she thought? She had stared at the woman, not knowing what to say or do. How could she begin to answer that question?

She needed someone to talk to, she needed to see it from a man's point of view not a woman's. She needed to know what to do. Charlie came in and sighted her. He walked up to her and sat down with his smile that could melt hearts. She smiled back at him.

"You smile didn't reach your eyes. What's the

matter? You sounded upset on the phone."

"I'm a bad person," Faith said, her voice almost coming out in a whisper, her eyes focused on the table.

Charlie peered at her. "Come one, who said you are a bad person?"

"I know that I am a bad person, I know it."

"Faith, listen to me, if you are a bad person, I would have known already. You are not."

Faith looked up at him. "You are saying this because I'm your friend."

"No, no. Alright, tell me why you think you are a bad person." Faith was quiet for a while how was she going to start? "Wait, you didn't order? I'll order. What do you want?"

"I think I need a very strong drink."

Charlie had looked at her for a while without saying anything, then he learned on the table and said, "You know, that as a nurse, I won't advice that for you especially considering your ulcer. But since it's going to make you feel better, I will order for you."

All the while, Faith had kept her eyes focused on her hands that were on the table. She couldn't even look Charlie in the eyes.

"What happened? Could it be worst than murder?"

"I made out with a friend's man." Charlie was quiet. Faith looked up at him. "Do you still think I'm a good person?"

"The fact, that you are remorseful about it shows that you are a good person. Who is this friend? Nora?"

"She caught me in the act and now I feel worse that I let it happen and even worst that she had to see that after she had been good to me." The tears were welling up.

        "Is it Nora?" Charlie inquired.

Faith shook her head before she said anything. "Charlotte. I made out with Ethan yesterday after the dinner party and Charlotte caught us."

"O, boy, that is kind of complicated. Have you talked to Charlotte yet?"

"No. What do you think?" Faith asked him hoping to get the answer that her client had asked her from him.

"I think you should talk to Charlotte first and apologize since you know its a mistake, then if Ethan is too much of a temptation to you, you can consider relocating. If you don't have enough money for that now, you could stay at my place. Nothing can ever happen between us," Charlie teased.

Moving in with Charlie seemed like a good idea but — she looked at him. " What of your boyfriend?"

       "Let me worry about him."
