Faith went home that night hoping not to see any of them in the living room, she didn't want to bump into Charlotte especially, she won't know what to say to her. It would be so awkward. Oh, shit how could she be so stupid? Now, Charlotte and Ethan have gone back to being lovers, while she hides like a mouse in her house. What could she do? She didn't believe in God, but she believed she had sinned. She removed her shoes at the door of the apartment opened the door and peeped in to be sure that no one was there.
When she was satisfied that there was no one in the living room and that no one was likely to come out from the kitchen or Ethan's room, she tiptoed in and gently closed the door so that it won't make a noise. Charlie has advised her to talk to Charlotte but which face was she going to do that with? How was she going to start doing that? How would she even look her in the eyes?
She tiptoed to the middle of the living room and was extra careful when she got to Ethan's door. She didn't want him or Charlotte to hear her coming out. For food? She was going to eat out until it she summons enough courage to face Charlotte. She was going to talk to Nora about it tonight.
She successfully tiptoed into her room and let out a deep breath. If she was a Christian, she would have made the sign of the cross. She threw her handbag on the bed, went over to the closet and put her shoes on the rack. She removed her clothes and hung them on hangers and kept them where she kept her dirty clothes.
After removing her dirty clothes, she walked back to her bed naked, grabbed her handbag and searched for her phone. There was no message from Charlotte, she heaved a sigh of relief. Getting a message from Charlotte was one thing she dreaded since yesterday. She went into the bathroom, she needed to take a cold bath. So she went into the tub and let the tap water run all over her. She relaxed and dialled Nora.
Looking at the beautiful dim lights in the bathroom, it was a perfect scene, only that there was no drink in handy. Nora answered after a while.
"Hello, baby girl, how are you today? I didn't see you at the end of the party."
"I'm sorry, I left early."
"Thank God you left early. Guess who I saw at that party last night."
"Noah with a woman."
Nora was silent for a while. "How did you know? You saw him too didn't you?"
"That was why I left the party." And did the worst thing ever.
"I'm sorry you had to see that I didn't know he was going to come, he's an affiliate."
"I'm still going to skin you alive though."
"Why?"
"How could you invite Ethan without telling me?"
Nora laughed. "First, I don't need your permission to invite him, I told Charlotte about it and she said he can go with you. Second, he is friends with Danny, so Danny said to invite him."
Faith rolled her eyes. "That's by the way. I have a question for you."
"Shoot."
"A fri...a client came to my office today and said that she was caught making out with her friend's man and she is so remorseful about it but she doesn't know what to do, what do you think? I'm just gathering opinions."
"Hmmm," Nora breathed. "This is going to be difficult since it's coming from the snatcher's point of view."
"Nora, she didn't snatch the man... She only made out with him, it was a one time mistake and she's willing to make things right. No need for the name-calling."
"Whatever, I won't go easy on anyone that messes with Danny, especially friends. Well, I know you can't do that."
"Never say never, Faith thought.
"I think the snatch...I mean the one who was caught making out should talk to her friend if she is remorseful enough. She should abstain from everything that would make her and the guy close."
"Thanks."
