SPEAKING WITH CHARLOTTE

After calling Nora, Faith hung up and placed her head on the edge of the tub. She was helpless. Her two friends have asked her to go talk to Charlotte. She even felt worse for lying to Nora about it. Charlotte might call Nora and tell her about it. What was she going to do? She just wished to die, she couldn't contain it any longer she wish to die.

She stepped out of the tub. She needed to talk to Charlotte before Charlotte talked to Nora. She took the towel and wrapped it around her body. She wiped her hair and looked in the mirror. Her pale skin was smooth. She touched her face and removed the towel from her hair and went into her room, she took the hairdryer and started drying her hair.

After that, she wore her night robe and lay on her bed. She took her phone, opened Charlotte's message and typed.

'Charlotte, can we talk?' She didn't send it she deleted it.

"Oh, shit, what am I going to do now? God if you exist just kill me now, kill me in bed.". She tossed about and got thirsty.

She stood up, tied her night robe and started heading towards the kitchen to get water and drink. She opened her door and looked out into the living room. No one was in the room, she stepped out slowly and started tiptoeing to the kitchen.

She opened the door and saw Charlotte in the kitchen, Charlotte looked at her and their eyes met. She stepped back immediately and shut the door. Her heart was pounding, pounding that she felt like it wanted to drop out of her chest. She started heading to her room but stopped. She should go and talk to her now. She turned back and went to the kitchen.

Charlotte was seated at the table eating salad. She went into the kitchen. Charlotte looked up at her again.

       "Hi," Charlotte said.

       "Charlotte...am…I... I...can I talk to you."

Charlotte looked at her and smiled. "Come sit."

"I know, you...are mad...and…" Faith could hardly keep her voice steady.

Charlotte was smiling all the while. Faith was so nervous and her breath was coming out in pants.

       "I don't know...I...I...I...don't know...I"

"Faith, breathe." Charlotte stood up and held her shoulders. "Calm down." Charlotte drew out a stool and patted the stool for her to sit.

Faith was surprised and she stared at Charlotte with incredible awe. Charlotte was being herself.

"Charlotte, I'm...I'm sorry. I didn't know what happened to me, I didn't know what came over me."

        "Faith, it's okay."

"No, it's not. I have to ask for your..."

"Faith, I'm not mad. I'm not mad at you nor Ethan."

"Why?" Faith stared at her quizzically.

Charlotte sat down and stared at her. "Do you know why I left?"

Faith was calmer now. "I wasn't eavesdropping, but I heard Ethan asking you to go home with him."

"I can't marry Ethan, I told him that I wasn't in a relationship with him."

        "Why?"

"There is no need. It was never going to do. We were never going to be."

"What are you talking about?" Faith asked.

"I will tell you everything," Charlotte said and repositioned herself.
