Ethan woke up and Charlotte's side of the bed was empty. He remembered that she had entered the bathroom the previous night and had refused to open up the door for him. He had heard her sob in there but she had refused to open nor come out of the bathroom.
He wondered what Faith and Charlotte has been discussing that made her so sombre. Charlotte was a lively girl. Both women had been crying when he came in and none wanted to say what had happened. Although he had not gone to Faith, he knew she would never open up or would she? He glanced at the bathroom door and wore his slippers.
He went and knocked on the door. "Charlotte you are still in the bathroom? Could you at least open the door?"
There was no response. He hit the door again and again. "At least, let me know that you are alive."
"Go away!" came the reply.
"Did I do something wrong? Just tell me please."
"Ethan, please leave for good?"
Ethan was confused. "How can you say that? How could you say that I should you for good? You are in my house don't you think I deserve to know at least things about you?"
There was no response again and he started going out of the room. He was going to Faith's bedroom, one of them must tell him what was going on. He went out and banged the door. He strode over to Faith's door and knocked. There was no answer. He knocked again and again, when he didn't get an answer, he tried to push the door and it gave way.
He entered and was greeted by an empty room, her bed was still dressed. He looked around, looked inside the toilet and didn't see anyone. She hadn't slept at home. He sat on her bed and looked around, hoping maybe she was in the kitchen, but she never came in. He stood up after a while and went to the kitchen.
He slowly opened the kitchen door and saw no one. He stepped inside and still meet the kitchen empty. He strode out and entered back into his room and met the bathroom door slightly open. He was surprised, and he started towards the door.
"You asked who I was last night," Charlotte said. Ethan stopped in his track. "I guess it's time to answer all your questions. Open the door."
Ethan was suddenly scared of opening the door. He stood there, looking at the little opening by the door. "Who are you?" He asked.
"Why ain't you coming?" Charlotte asked.
Ethan stood there for a while contemplating on opening the door or not. Then as a man, he slowly pushed the door open and met the worst sight he had ever seen in his life. He looked at Charlotte sitting there, her whole hair lost. He blinked twice to make sure he was seeing clearly, then he felt lightheaded and steadied himself with the handle of the door. His eyes were as wide as he had seen a ghost.
