Bumped into him II

II

"Mmm," Joleen gave his explanation a thought. She watched him move to the table, grabbing a bag on it as she wondered what was in there.

He brought it over to her side, handing it over to her.

"Here," he said. She now figured it was something for her, food, most likely cause she smelled it.

Probably lunch or something. Charles was extremely kind to her and for that she was grateful, she owed him one, not just one, a lot! And she hoped she would be able to repay him or show him this much kindness one day.

"Here, it's dinner," He added.

"WHAT!" She jumped, her eyes bulged in surprise.

"What do you mean dinner?" She asked.

Charles chuckled due to her reaction.

"You have been asleep for over five hours," he said still with a smile.

"You joking!" She exclaimed.

"No, I'm not," he responded.

She flinched at the sudden buzzing of her phone which had began to ring.

"Shit!" She let out, realizing what it was.

"What is wrong with me," she added.

She reached her pant pocket, taking the phone out and checking who the caller was.

"Oh," she let out.

It was Fransisca, she remembered she had promised her to come that very day, her heart sank at the thought of her absence, but she knew Fransisca would not miss being here if it wasn't important.

She answered the call.

"Oh, finally!" She heard Fransisca say in what seemed like a relief.

"What's going on over there? I have been calling you all day," she added.

"Sorry about that, I just got my phone back," she said avoiding letting her know that she had collapsed. She didn't want her bothered much, since she was not supposedly okay.

"But, we are good so far," she said with the intention of letting her worry die down.

"I'm relieved to hear that," Fransisca said in a clear tone of relief.

"I wanted to be there, but my grand baby was running a fever and we had to take him to children's clinic, he is doing better now ,"

Joleen knew it must be something serious that would stop Fransisca from showing up. She totally understood her reasons, besides she didn't owe her anything, she only looked up to having her there because she had promised.

"It's okay, I'm glad to hear your grand baby is fine now," she responded.

They discussed briefly before bidding good bye.

****** The Next Morning ******

Joleen's grandma was not awake yet. She and Charles left the next morning, she for work and Charles for an import business of his. She wished she could stay with her all day, but she had to continue her other daily activities. She didn't want to miss the exact moment her grandma would awake, but the doctors said she will be suducted for a couple more day, there by keeping her asleep to enable faster healing.

While Charles had gone home, she had also gone to where she currently called home, but not to rest, but to resume work.

Yesterday was too much for her that she forgot everything about VENUS.
