"Ma'am, I'm the chauffeur, are you set to leave?" The man asked.
"Yes," she responded.
The steady pace of the car, the comfort the car gave. The car was almost more comfy than her own room.
The city was a beauty at night. The beautiful RnB music playing subtly in the car made it feel like this was one of those cliche going away rides in movies. It felt that way to her, maybe this feeling had something to do with how Dennis had dismissed her, maybe because she rode with him when coming and she was riding alone when heading back.
Her gaze was fixed on the window, she was looking out the window, she was admiring the city. She didn't know these many people were out at night. She figured it was only like this in the heart of the city.
After a couple minutes, she recognized how close they had gotten to the Dennis Wayne mansion.
A little flash from the day's activities flashed through her mind. She found herself reaching to her lips with her fingers, she touched them, and she pictured his kisses, his many kisses. The Devil had left memories with her, memories she rather keep than erase. Memories that made her think of him like something else, something more. Maybe he wasn't as bad as she labeled him.
"We are here," The chauffeur said.
She now realized that they were within the fence of the mansion.
"Oh," she let out.
She reached for the doorknob, she opened the door.
"Thank you for the ride," she said before she got off.
"My pleasure," the chauffeur responded.
She walked by the corner of the main building, she tried to be as quiet as she can. The tiptoed as she walked to her apartment. At some point, she felt like someone was behind her, she turned but she saw no one. She went ahead and got into her apartment.
******
It wasn't so dark outside, the moon was out. The lighting was dim but still it gave just enough light.
A figure walked out of the corner where he was hiding. He had been waiting and he saw just exactly what he waited this long for.
"What is her deal with Dennis Wayne," he whispered.
*** The next morning ***
It was a Friday and like the days she didn't have to work in the kitchen, she slept till 8 AM. She became more appreciative of the fact that she was relieved of her duty as Kitchen assistant that day because she couldn't imagine waking up at 5 AM after going to bed that late. After she got up, she went to the kitchen and got herself breakfast.
Madam Francisca was elated that morning, she was already done with Breakfast and the waiter had served Dennis who was rumored to have returned that morning.
She chatted with Madam Francisca for some time trying to not think much of the night before.
After about 30 minutes she left the kitchen and went to get set for her first day at Venus after being called back. she was ready by nine, so she set out and caught her bus. She wasn't sure how she felt about getting back, she felt a little embarrassed about being kicked out but she knew her aim was on the greater goal. The bus had stopped but Infront of Venus building. She stood just before it, looked up to the tall building, and heaved a sigh.
