The weekend was a long one, it normally stopped on sundays, but this one was longer because the Monday was a public holiday. It was announced by the government to celebrate the falling heroes of the country. These were the military men who fought for the country in various ways both internal and external wars. Due to this, Chase and Alicia were to enjoy their leave for those days. It was important for them because Harts family wouldn't be going out those days, so their services wouldn't be needed much. The agents that were in charge of the house were capable of handling the security there in. Chase and Alicia were involved in the plan because of Olivia and it was must important during their out of the house movements. Chase was mostly happy as it was a good one and he had missed Brenda a lot. His only consolation all the while was that both of them were having a video chat most times, so he could say they see each other every day. He called Brenda to inform her they were coming home for the break, the phone rang without her picking it. He tried several times without success. He began to feel uncomfortable, he had never called Brenda more than twice without response, he had to walk up to Alicia and informed her of it. Alicia smiled, she could see the anxiety in him and she could tell that it was born out of love for Brenda. She told him to calm down as nothing had happened to her. Alicia had to try the number with her mobile phone, the same result came back, Brenda did not pick her call. After much trial, she felt something might be wrong, but she didn't want to add to Chase'anxiety. She rather suggested to him that Brenda might have probably left her phone somewhere.
Meanwhile, Brenda had left the mall that evening, with her colleague. The young lady drove her to the bus stop where she was to board a bus going her way. Unfortunately, she missed the bus, so she had to walk down to the subway where she would take a train. She hadn't walked up to 5 minutes, when she observed two young men approaching with speed, her instinct told her to run. She quickened her pace a little, looked back and saw they were getting close. That was when she suspected they might be coming for her. She had heard a lot of stories of bad boys robbing and raping ladies on subways, but she hadn't experienced such. It wasn't her first time of using the route, she had even gone through it very late in the night. So she never thought such thing would come her way. The more she moved faster, the young men got closer. She was panting seriously, so she held her hand bag so tight and started running. Brenda was so lucky that she wore a sneakers that morning while going to work, she was also on a tightly fitted Jean trouser. The young men were faster, so they caught up with her. One of them stood beside her while the other was facing her. They asked her to open her bag and bring out the content. Brenda was shaking with fear, she opened the bag, smartly held her pepper spray so tight that they couldn't see it. By then, the young man by her side had moved to the front and stood with his friend. Brenda had to muster courage, as she allowed them take hold of her bag, one of them was trying to open it, when she sprayed the pepper to their face. Luckily for her, she succeeded in hitting their eyes. When she saw they bent down holding their eyes, she grabbed her hand bag and took off.
She ran as much as her strength could carry her till she got to the train station. When she got there, there were some passengers waiting to board the train, so she quickly ran to the ticketing office where she bought her ticket. She had wanted to talk to the police officer that was on duty, but she changed her mind, all she wanted was to get out of the place and get home. She couldn't hear the sound of her phone ringing, even when she was seated in the train. Fear had a good grip of her, she couldn't believe such thing happened to her. It was when she got home, entered the house, that she checked her handbag to see if she had her belongings and her phone intact. At that point, she saw over 20 missed calls from Alicia and Chase. She quickly redialed Chase' number, but got a voice telling her the number was not reachable. She tried Alicia, the same answer. She kept the phone, and rechecked the doors to make sure they were properly locked.
Chase told Alicia they had to leave Harts house immediately, that he sensed trouble at home. They went to the security office, and officially handed over to the the other agents. He called Olivia and informed her they were leaving, then Alicia and himself got into the Hyundai, he took charge of the wheels while Alicia sat at the passengers seat. She made sure she fastened her seat belt for safety. She knew it was going to be a speedy and rough ride home, so she only prayed and held herself back from advising Chase to take it easy. Once Chase slammed his door shut, he turned the ignition on, and slowly drove out of the compound. As soon as he got to the major highway that would lead to the 2 hours journey home, he pushed the gear lever to over drive, then marched the accelerator down, the car doubled it's speed. All through the journey, they remained at the speed lane, overtaking all cars on that lane. In his mind, he felt Brenda was in trouble at home, his thought was that probably some bad gang might have stormed the house and got hold of her. He prayed he got home while they were still in the house. Alicia was calm, she had ear piece in her ears, with which she listened to music on her phone. Her eyes were closed too, she didn't want to see how Chase drove to avoid her complaining. They had some risky moments that would have ended in a terrible accident but some how, Chase managed to avoid them.
They finally arrived the house, when they looked, the entire house was dark. It wasn't normal, Alicia who had been calming Chase down, became curious. She wondered what would have caused the lights in the house to go off. Even when they travel, they had always left the lights on. She looked at Chase, to know what his plans were, meanwhile she was already holding her automatic rifle in her hand. Chase told her to station herself as a backup while he tried getting in via the window. He walked to the side on the house, jumped the wooden dwarf fence. He slowly pushed the sliding window open, quietly leaped up, and eased himself into the house. He had wanted to get in without noise, but unfortunately, he landed on some used plastic bottles and cans that were packed at one corner of the hallway. Immediately Brenda heard the noise, she flashed her touch towards the direction, rushed with her pepper spray in one had and a big rod in the other. She sprayed the pepper directly at Chase, getting some into his eyes, while she hit him with the rod. Chase defended the much he could, by then, Brenda had noticed it was Chase. Before she could speak, they heard the sound of a gun, Chase held Brenda and made a dive to the room, both of them hit he floor.
Alicia was the one shooting, she was watching as Chase got in, then when she saw the light flashing, and someone with a rod hitting at the direction Chase got in, she felt Chase was being attacked, so she shot toward the direction, shattering the window glasses. It took Chase' experience to avoid the rest of the bullets that came in from different angle. The windows were shattered, he held Brenda so close and dragged her along with him moving from the room they were to another, until they got to the kitchen. When he felt they were safe, he told Brenda to keep laying down low, then he opened the back door, climbed up the roof where he shouted to Alicia that the house was safe and clear. While he shouted, he was being careful as the gun shot had seized, he couldn't tell Alicias position. He had to lay flat on the roof top while shouting. Alicia shot twice at the roof, before she heard the voice. She stopped and listened, she was sure it was Chase' voice, but in her profession, she knew he could be held with a gun behind him and made to shout that way. So she needed to be sure it wasn't such scene playing out. She asked that he raised his hands up where she could see them and slowly show himself. Chase did exactly as she directed, though with all alertness for a dodge incase of any shot. Alicia saw him stand on the roof, she didn't see anyone around him, so she knew they were clear. She lowered her gun and walked into the house. When they finally gathered in the house after the incident, they turned it into a drama, demonstrating and laughing at their different actions.
