Chapter 134

Philip braved up and called Brains, when he saw what was going on in almost all the various social media handles regarding the anticipated royalty wedding. He read through the various question and answer, also he read the comments made on the comments section. He was yet to come to terms with what might have gone into Mike's head that he chose to go that way. It was true that they hadn't spoken to each other after he left the hospital in the US, so he wouldn't jump into conclusion yet as regards what might have transpired between him (Mike) and Olivia after the little issues they had. He could only recall that the serious misunderstanding he was aware of back then of which he tried his best to see the possibility of settling it, was between Mike and Brains. He was very unhappy that things were taking this turn when his plans was to reach out for a courtesy visit and possible reconciliation. 

Brains picked his call, he was happy that Philip called. He had delayed so much in calling him(Philip) each time he remembered, Lucymang would tell him to go ahead and make the call, but he would procrastinate. The first thing he did was to apologize to Philip for everything that had happened, and for not listening to his voice of reasoning back then. He lamented on what had happened to them and mentioned that had it been they were together the way they used to be, Mike might not have been in the mess he was. Philip accepted the apology and told him, that it was for Mike's mess that he called too. He told him how he stumbled on the news and how since then he had been thinking of what to do.

When Philip asked Brains if he had been in touch with Mike, the line went silent for more than 30 seconds. It took several shouts of hello from Philips end before Brains gave a response. He opened up to Philip how bad he felt, having allowed a little issue that would have been resolved with good understanding as friends to linger up to the point they were. Having said that and more, Philip knew that there was a serious damage control job to be done. He told Brains that the resolution of whatever conflict or misunderstanding he had with Mike was paramount at the moment, without which the solution for whatever mess the story line on social media handles were causing wouldn't hold. They agreed that it was time for Brains to make that call to Mike. 

When Brains dropped the call, Lucymang overheard the discussion between him and Philip, for she lay on the same couch with her head on his lap, she reminded Brains of his weakness in taking things like that un-serious. She told him that if he had listened to her do he onset, things wouldn't have degenerated to the level they have found themselves. Though it may not have stopped the mess from happening, but reaching out wouldn't have become a Herculean task. She had to use a more forceful time to push Brains into making the call.

Meanwhile, Olivia, Mira and their Dad had a success meeting, what the duo had in mind wasn't he reason for him dropping by. He had got the information about the swearing in of the new senators which included Olivia and came to see her and he family so they would start early to plan for the date. As soon as they were through with the shot meeting, Mr Hart breezed in to see the wife before leaving, while Olivia and Mira went back to their apartment. Olivia regretted why she had sent Kelly away, she would have had a little Patience. 

In their apartment, she told Mira how she secretly invited Kelly for a chat using the story as an alibi. When Mira asked where he was, Olivia told her he had left, she told her it was because of their Dads call for the meeting, which she thought would be a long one that she suggested that he left. Mira was mostly interested to know if Kelly finally said something;

Did he get on his knee again? Mira asked

No he didn't, but he gave me a gift. Olivia responded.

She brought out he little gift box and handed it over to her sister, then she went ahead to tell her how she couldn't have answered had it been he proposed. She made Mira yo laugh out loud when she told her how she was overwhelmed with anxiety when Kelly dipped his hand in his pocket after interrupting her with such statement that suggested he was going to propose. Mira couldn't control her laughter, the box fell off her hand, their Mom who was just entering the house heard the laughter and rushed into their room. She met them holding the precious golden wrist watch that Kelly gave her as a gift. It was so beautiful as she wore it on her wrist to the admiration of her daughters. When she asked who gave it to them, what she got as response was not foreign to her, she had a good knowledge of what her daughters could do and say at times like that. Mira and Olivia simultaneously responded to their mother that it was sent from heaven. The next few minutes were much of fun between mother and daughter even as Mom took the opportunity to observe how her daughter Olivia was fairing with the early stage of the pregnancy.

Mike was alone when Brains' call came in, being that Brains didn't use his line to call, Mike was not sure of who was calling, so he didn't pick the call at first time. When it came the second time, he sensed that it must be something important, so h picked. The voice he heard was familiar but his mood couldn't allow him guess correctly.Brains courageously introduced himself and without allowing him to talk, he initiated a process of reconciliation with some apologetic lines. At that point, Mike couldn't find words to say, in his heart, it was a moment he had longed for. He accepted all that Brains said and from the tone in his voice, Brains observed that he was happy. They chatted a few minutes, Mike asked after Philip, Brains told him he was the one that initiated the process they were towing at that moment. Other general talks were exchanged but Brains carefully avoided topic of the moment, which was the pre wedding pictures.

Lucy was in the Jacuzzi feeling cool when her friend Elizabeth called. She turned the phone screen and saw her name. She quickly picked the call via her Bluetooth handsfree receiver in her ear. This time around, the call wasn't brief like the first time, they had a long chat generally on some of the past experiences they had while together on Paris. Lizzy as she was popularly known took time to appreciate Lucy on the helps she rendered her back then, she also apologized for not keeping in touch, even though she had lost her contact. The discussion went funny as they remembered some of the tricky moments in their hookers job, how they used to play a fast one on men, especially those that were stringy or that behaved miserly when it got to payment. 

Finally the switched to the main business at hand. Lucy was so excited to hear that Lizzy had made contact with an insider in the family house, she old her the contact was through a friend who was hooked up with the house chef, and she had gone their twice. From Iizzy's findings, the chef had falling in love with the hooker and had promised her an invitation during the end of the get together part which was done yearly after the family business meeting. Lizzy believed that if a good price was paid to the said hooker, being that she wasn't going to kill nor was she going to cause troubles, she would be able to get the exact story of what was happy in the house. She would either do this by asking her lover, who she (Lizzy) believed would be magnanimous enough to make her happy by telling her more than she would even ask, or by observing things herself.  Lucy had to cut her short, her opinion which she suggested was that the lady should ask and get information from the chef, even as she observes, she believed, that way, things that had happened days before the party day, would also be revealed.

The amount to be given was next, because they couldn't agree on what to pay, Lizzy was asked to make contact with her said lady and if possible let her discuss with (Lucy). The call was ended on a happy note. Lucy felt so happy that she was beginning to make progress in that area, she prayed that things turn out the way she expected it, she knew that even if she wanted refund on whatever she spent getting the true picture, so long as it was on Olivia's favour, she (Olivia) would be so happy to refund her double, if not more.
