Chapter 114

Senator Crusoe got out from the cell through the court injunction. The lawyer had filed a paper demanding that he be granted on health grounds. He wrote that Senator Crusoe was in need of medical attention and it was accepted and granted based on that. The following days and weeks saw them go through the legal battle with the senator facing a four count charges of Money laundry, murder, kidnapping and drug trafficking. His lawyer was served the case papers which was filed by Harts lawyer, Mary was the one that filed the  case on behalf of the family to avoid direct personal confrontation between the Harts and Crusoes family. The senators lawyer was surprised when the paper was served, he was already planning to sue them on kidnapping and unlawful arrest of his client being Crusoe, as they had agreed, when the paper came to his office. 

As for the Senator, he knew for sure that it was the end of road for him in the upper Chambers of the legislature, in that his case was already made public. Even if he would be able to launder his name and come out clean, time was too short for that. The only thing he was able to decide was to first of all clean his name up, then he would think about the rest. Already his passport had been held to avoid him making any trip outside the country, his house was also put on surveillance 24 hours. As at this time, he was yet to understand why and who the Mary that filed the suit was, he had gone through his contacts and couldn't find such a name. He had even sent for list of business deals but clean and dirty ones, to search and see if he could find a link that would enable him trace such a name, but all the effort didn't yield the desired goal. He was left with only one option, that was to use or of his boys, this time he warned him seriously to avoid any mistake, his duty was not something that related with criminality, hence he wouldn't expect anything that would bring the police or any authority into it. The young man promised to do a thorough job and deliver as agreed.

Meanwhile, security was made priority around Mary since the case was initiated, she was followed by secret agents who do not put on uniform, making it hard for anyone to spot them out as one. Her building and office were also secured as more CCTV devices were installed. Ben made sure the best of the Lawyers were selected for the case as he didn't want any stone to be left unturned. His major aim was for the case to remain ongoing until after the primary election for the position of Presidential candidate which he aspire. As for Olivia's candidacy, he was already sure that she had won the position. It was also obvious that she would win the other parties as the support they were getting was huge. 

In the US, Margaret and Mike got to 'D Maggie', everywhere was quiet, it was not yet time for the guest to gather, they walked into the VIP as usual and sat at a table. Having looked around to see if the mayor was around and confirmed he wasn't, Margret had to relax her body on Mike. The waiter came around with their request, served them and walked away. 

You didn't finish the story on your family? Mike asked while adjusting himself as Margaret's weight was on him and he wasn't comfortable.

Margaret lifted herself from his body, sat properly, and commenced the story where she stopped. She told him that the suspicious of her being a gay and the troubles that followed even though it had not stopped was becoming unbearable to her. The family always meet twice to three times in a year, one of the meeting was to celebrate the family Unity or bond as passed down from past generations, the other was for the Grand father's birthday. He was about ninety years plus, and the head of the family. The last one was not defined, it was always assumed to be based on either emergencies, celebration of any kind within the family or family members life. 

So what is this particular one for? Mike asked.

This is meant for the Grandpa's 94th birthday she responded.

She continued by telling him that the previous year, she had promised her grandpa that she would be present on his next birthday celebration with her husband or worst case scenario, a man she would marry. This was really a tough one for her as the days turned into months and months turning to a year. The family members had left that years event with just her promise out of every other things that were discussed, it was only her and her promise that everyone took hold of. It wasn't up to six months down the line when she began to get calls just to remind her of her promise. It got to a point that her grandpa himself had to speak to her on phone. He reminded her of it , and told her it should be his birthday gift. 

Mike was able to see the importance of his role, he had thought initially that Margaret had an ulterior motive behind the plan, which might be possibly to lure him and set him up by making the introduction go viral. This was the reason he wanted to get the detailed story. Having known it was just for him to stand in on her behalf only, he felt at ease to do the job. After all according to his mindset, he would be leaving the US and headed back to Africa. He reassured Margaret that he was going to help her, which made her so happy. She brought some more drinks while waiting for the mayor. Meanwhile, Mike was left with one huddle to jump, that being how and what to tell Cindy.

While Mike was battling with all these, Olivia was with Kelly as rescheduled for another story time. This time, Mira had returned to the scene. The twin had discussed and analysed the story so far, and decided that it was worth hearing to the end, as that would be the only time a valid conclusion would be possible. Kelly did not fail to come around, though he delayed a little this time. Part of the delay was because of the long call he had with Chamberlain, who wanted to know how he was able to handle Olivia. It was Chamberlains idea that he used his leave period to visit Paris and talk it out one on one with Olivia. When he finally arrived, Olivia was happy, she almost gave up waiting, she had thought he might have decide not to come around. Menu was brought in and meal served according to their respective choices, this time Kelly couldn't wait for Olivia to remind him where he stopped, neither did he wait for them to get through with the meal, he resumed for where he stopped the previous day.

Pauline walked to Kelly's office, she had seen him return and gave him some minutes before heading to his office. She tapped on the door and turns the knob almost immediately. The office space was very quiet except for the sound of the heels of Pauline's shoes. She stepped up to Kelly's table, instead of sitting on the visitors chair, she sat on the table facing him. 

You stayed longer, I was waiting so we could have launch together. She said.

Kelly was still hearing Chamberlains warning re-echoing in his ears, this made him not to be quick in his response. He wanted to avoid her by all means, all he needed was to be alone, as far as he was concerned, her presence was not needed. But for the advice his friend had given him, he had to calm his nerves and responded calmly.

Sorry something came up, he responded, forcing a smile on his face. Shall we! He added.

Pauline stood up, and they left the office for where they would have launch. From the secretary, the janitors both at the lift and other doors, till th security at the ground floor, including the driver's, were always happy when they saw Pauline with Kelly. The gossip in the office by these junior staff, was that Pauline who they refer to as Madam, had got an eagle eye for spotting a very handsome young man like Kelly, while they also say that Kelly was the luckiest Chap they had ever seen for having Pauline fall in love with him. This they said on his side because they know he was already on his way to becoming a billionaire for life. Pauline had no brother nor sister, she was the heir to all that her Dad had made, this automatically would make any man that married her to be in charge. This was the part Kelly hated the most, even when Chamberlain brought it up, he had to shout at him to stop. He hadn't considered the wealth as a factor in his decision for marriage, and this included Olivia who he knew came from a wealthy home too, even though it can't be compared with that of the Roberts.
