Chapter 143

As Margaret's family party date approached, Margaret became more busy, having less time with and for Mike. As at the time, Mike have known a little of his way around town. There were few places he could go hang out without using Margaret's help. This made him not to feel lonely rather he began to regain his lost appetite for fun which he had lost since the recent happenings around him. One of these days, He had gone to the relaxation park to cool off while watching the beauty of nature, while he was seated on one of the benches, a young lady approached him and surprisingly, she initiated a conversation on the online pictures. Mike kept mute, he was being careful because he wouldn't know if she was a journalist. He was okay with how far the news had gone, and he wouldn't want it to go further. All the effort made by the young lady to make him talk, failed. When she tried to put pressure on Mike, he left her and walked away.

On his way home, Mike wondered what would have led to a stranger probing into his life, it was then he realized that possibly, he was being followed or watched. He thought of who could b behind it, many options came to mind, including Olivia. He never thought of Margaret, in fact he hadn't for once seen any reason to suspect, let alone believing she could think of planning such things. It was the first time he made a decision to put his security training experience to use.

Mike had gone through some security training, especially on forensics. He was certified one of the best and was nominated to serve in the Directorate of state security service. He refused the offer because he was the only child of his parents, at that time he wanted to be close to his parents so as to take care of them. The stage at which the events around him had got to, seemed to have pushed him to the wall, so he had to activate that hidden and suspended part of him. Once he got to his room, he took a paper and a pen and began scribbling some things quickly. Lucky enough, he was done and had just kept the paper and pen, when Margaret walked in.

She was looking so tired and exhausted, when Mike looked at her, he could see that even on her face. She lay down beside him and put her head on his chest. She then asked how his day had been. Mike told her, he went to the park and how a stranger approached him asking questions on the 'supposed' pre wedding arrangements and pictures. Margaret was shocked, she knew she had someone she paid to follow him secretly, but she wasn't asked to speak to him. She wondered why the lady would overstep the bound of the deal. She was so angry that her countenance changed. Mike, not knowing why she was angry, felt it was for his sake, so he told her not to worry because he handled it well, and would subsequently take care of such occurrences.

When they had ended their discussion, Margaret having rested a little, she took excuse from Mike and left the room. She had told Mike that she would be home all day, for she had handled all in her to do list. When she stepped out of the room, she called the spy she paid to follow Mike, she was about giving it to her hot, when the lady told her exactly what Mike had said back there in the room. The spy had witnessed everything and had a video which she was about to send to her. At that moment, she calmed down. She wondered who else would be following Mike, so she negotiated with her spy to find out who the lady was and why she was after Mike.

When she dropped the call, she headed straight to her Grandpa's room, she knocked and was asked to come in. Inside, she narrated what just happened to Grand Pa, she was still talking when the video came in. They had to see the video together, after which Grand Pa called the family trusted hand in such underground jobs. A meeting was scheduled that evening upon his arrival so that Margaret would tell him the story and what she wanted done. She thanked her Grandpa and left his room back to hers.

Being that she had confirmed that her spy did not mess up, her mood changed which was noticeable to Mike. She had a bottle of champagne and two glasses with her when she got back, this they used to keep busy while they chatted on various topics of interest. Mostly the business world as it relates to their interest.

When Chase left Olivia, he was yet to decide how he was going to carry out the assignment. He knew quite well that it was strictly an undercover agents job, though he got a couple of them who are very good at what they do, he wouldn't want to leave any stone unturned. He had seen how excited Olivia was when he accepted, her level of believability in him was across board too. These and many other reasons were enough to get him involved personally in the job. He had to give it a deep thought. He left where he was and went back to the security office where he sat down quietly and planned on how to go about it.

If there was one person Chase hadn't forgotten since he left Africa, that was Bruno, the moment he got what Olivia wanted, Bruno came to mind, but the distance and cost implication of moving him from Africa to deliver on that job, discouraged Chase. He would rather look for someone in Europe or UK in particular. How he was going to do that became another issue. He had tried several contacts through his office but all where busy with some duties. This almost frustrated him, but he had made up his mind that he must find a way out to get the job done.

It was as a last resort that Chase decided to call Bruno, hoping he could link him up with someone in UK who could deliver on such job. When he called the number, it rang once and demanded that he dropped a voice message, an indication that he (Bruno) was not available at the moment. Chase did as he heard from the voice prompt. He had barely dropped the phone when his phone rang. He took the call, not knowing who was calling, the moment he said 'hello', Bruno shouted his name with respect, he way they do in the progression.

Chase was so happy that he called back, so he intimated him of why he had called, when he had finished talking, Bruno asked when the party would be held, which Chase answered. That was when he told Chase not to worry as he (Bruno) was in UK as they spoke. Chase couldn't believe such a coincidence, he had to ask Bruno once more so that he would be sure it wasn't a dream. He wondered why he didn't follow his instinct initially when Olivia passed the message. It was like a huge burden lifted off his shoulders. He hadn't only succeeded in getting someone to do the job, he also got someone he could close his eyes and sleep off knowing that he would get a positive result when he woke up.

Bruno and Chase agreed to discuss in details later in the night so Bruno would get the necessary information on the address, the names of the people, and time of the party. He also would be needing some support from Chase as an expert in the field. Already, Chase had made up of mind not to be available since he had got a capable hand, but on a second thought, he felt the need to be there, in disguise just to make double sure Olivia got result she desired.

The rest of the evening, Chase kept himself busy with drinks supplied by Olivia who was showing how happy she was that he accepted to help her. While he drank, Chase chatted with Alicia and Brenda, both ladies were having fun time at home and they were sending pictures of food each time they prepared one for consumption, making Chase salivate. Chase enjoyed every moment of it, he had to turn it to fun, by sending them pictures of himself and the drink he was enjoying. Brenda was mostly concerned with how much drinks had taking so as not to get drunk, while Chase was happy he had got a solution to the job.

Meanwhile, Olivia kept sending more drinks and some fish barbecue to Chase making him have a fun filled evening. Some other agents who weren't on duty had to join him.
