Chapter 150

The atmosphere in the house especially the section where the party was held, was so busy with a lot of activities. The events proper had been done with, it was time for entertainment both music, dance, food and wine. It was the time that the Chef and his girlfriend had been waiting for, but for the recent happening, it seemed they might try another method of getting what they wanted. This they decided, to avoid a repeat of what they experienced in Bruno's hand. As long as they were concerned, the men they saw were not to be joked with, it was better they didn't cross their part again. Chef was the most scared, he was the one who suggested that they think out a safer way of getting the information needed. When the girl friend asked him how the were going to do so, he told her to relax, after all he had been in the house for years and knew every nook and cranny.

Meanwhile, the busy environment made everyone to keep their mind steady within the central venue of the event, there by creating a gap at some other sides of the building. This was exactly how Cindy's agent was able to gain access into Margaret's room. He had earlier tried doing so, but he got interrupted when Bruno and Chase came towards the room. This time around, he succeeded in getting it right. Immediately he got into the room, he planted the gimmick where no one would be able to see or notice it. It was a micro chip that çould record both video and audio. It works in such a way that all he needed was to get a safe location around the building where he would use his smart phone to listen and possibly watch whatever it was that would be happening in the room. This he did and felt relaxed waiting for signal when someone enters the room.

Lucymang had no need to bother much anymore, she had already established contact with Mike, and had a well thought out plan on how to reach out to him. She would have to keep her eyes on him targeting when he would move to a position she felt was safe enough to get to him. She would pretend to ask for an interview session with him, and if possible take him outside the building where it would be easy to ask him questions. She would then add the question on the pre wedding pictures, hoping she got a positive response from him. She and the journalist chose a very nice spot where they would see him whenever he stood up or walk out from the crowed. They were still deliberating on their plans when Brains message dropped in, she read it and was happy that things were getting a lot easier.

The only person whose strategy was different from every other person was Chased, he decided that he wasn't ready to waste much time anymore in the job, he would confront Mike one on one and ask him to tell him the truth, he wouldn't mind using force if need be, so that he would know how important  it was to him. He was also ready to explore the option of interrogating Margaret and make her tell him the truth. All these he would do alone without Bruno nor his men. Chase's only challenge was how to pick out Mike or Margaret without anyone noticing it. He wouldn't want to create chaos in the house, it would be a very neat operation. When he had thought things through, he then chose a good spot also from where he could see Mike and Margaret.

Mike wasn't comfortable where he was, he would love to have left for the room, but each time he thought of doing so, his mind would remind him of a possible danger. Although he had got a message from Brains that Lucymang and the journalist were sent by himself and Philip, he wouldn't know how many more people who were in the party for such job or somehow worse. He had received several messages from. Brains asking that he reach out to Lucymang if he was in danger. He looked at where Lucymang was seated, from his position, it was far and it would take him a walk through the lonely back corridor to get to her. The way Brains wrote his message, he could sense that he knew more than himself that was in the house. He was sure that whatever information that he had, must have come from Lucymang.

Mike decided to wait for whenever Margaret was ready for them to leave for their room, so they would move together. It wasn't quite long before she signalled him. Mike stood up and joined Margaret as they excused their leaving from Grand pa. They had just left the crowded part of the party when Lucymang and the journalist approached him. Mike feigned ignorant of the plan, and agreed to grant them an interview, to his surprise, Margaret opted to move on to the room alone. This gave Mike the opportunity he desired to speak out on what happened.

Margaret continued all alone to the room, she didn't know nor was she keen to observe that she was being followed. It was when she opened the door and stepped in, she tried shutting it, but it wouldn't shut. Then she saw Chase standing there, holding the door from getting shut. Before she could open her mouth, Chase had already brought out a little pen knife from his pocket. He brandished it for her to see and this made her to shut her mouth. He stepped in and shut the door, then he asked her where Mike was headed with the journalists. This was for him to know when he would possibly be returning back to the room.

Once the door room got open, the engineer got a beep on his phone, with that, he knew it was time to record. He immediately opened the app and clicked on record. The earpiece on his ears enabled him listen even as he recorded. The moment he heard Chase voice, he shuddered, for he wasn't expecting that Margaret's would be husband should sound that way. The little he had seen them, there was nothing to indicate that they were having issues. He felt the need to listen the more, that was when he heard Margaret's voice, she was begging whoever it was not to harm her, promising that whatever he wanted, she was ready to give.

The engineer hurriedly switched to video so as to get the sight of who she was talking to, the video response showed unavailable. He tried severally without success, then he knew there was trouble. It became obvious to him that the person Margaret was talking to wasn't Mike. He also knew the danger of rasing alarm or trying to play a saviour. There was no way such a person wouldn't be armed and ready to do the unbelievable so as to escape. He decided to continue the recording uninterrupted while he listened, if not for anything, it would stand as evidence.

When Chase walked into the room, he shut the door behind him. He first searched for anything that looked like a camera, this he did by switching off the light. The moment he did, the button-like video transmitter was there blinking, he took the chair, climbed up and removed it. He threw it on the floor and marched on it. That was when and how  the engineer lost transmission. The next move was to calm Margaret down and make her seat down. He then took a handkerchief, and tied it on his mouth, before he spoke. This he did perhaps there were other chips planted in the room that he didn't see.

Mike's interview with Lucymang and the journalist was a brief one, he was able to open up on what transpired, basically because Brains told him the need for that. By the time he returned to the room, Chase had already left. He saw Margaret shaking and crying, fear written all over her. Mike wondered what it was hag would put her in such a condition. He tried several times to make her talk, but she wouldn't, all she did was shed tears. The more he pressured her, was the more she cried. When he saw that the approach wasn't yielding results, he held her on her shoulder and cuddled her in his arms. This seemed to have a little effect, as the crying reduced a bit, and she relaxed very comfortably in his arm.

Margaret wasn't crying because she was scared, it was because someone had made away with a vital information on the story behind the pictures. Worse still, the person wasn't known to her, so she wouldn't know what the person would use the information for. Also the person might be working for someone, and there was no way she would tell who the person was. She thought of telling Mike what happened, by changed her mind. She would rather tell her Grand pa about it, she and the entire household had grown to believe in Grand Pa so much that things that seemed impossible were mostly taken care of by one phone call he made. She believed that somehow, Grandpa would find out who the stranger was and if possible his mission too.
