Chapter one hundred and eighty-seven
Since Kathryn's discovery about Maxwell Williams, she'd been uneasy, she'd often have nightmares about him, about all the cruel and mean things he'd done to her. She was so scared of him, he was the last person she wanted to see.
Kathryn was sprawled on her bed, thinking about Anna. She wondered if she was doing well. She knew that if she was indeed with Maxwell Williams, there was no way she would be doing well. Maxwell was a beast in human clothing. She really hoped that he would inflict no harm on her. She'd used her resources to also find Anna. She'd used her influence too, they'd gone to radio stations, and TV stations, and had promised to give huge money to anyone who knows where she could be.
Kathryn picked her phone up and checked her messages, she'd not checked the rest of them since the time she spoke with Xander. She'd been so worried sick for Anna and on the other hand, her mind wasn't at rest because of Max. She scrolled down her messages and saw that Jaden had tried to reach her. She immediately cursed under her breath. She only hoped that he rots in hell for what he did to her. She however wondered why he would send her a message. Was he guilty? What did he want from her? Out of curiosity, she opened his message and the moment she read its contents her mouth flew open in astonishment.
She immediately thought that he could be playing pranks on her. She checked the date and time that he sent the message and realised that it was on the same day that Anna was kidnapped. It was a few hours after she went missing.
Without wasting any time at all, she called Xander, notifying him of the information.
Xander was in bed when he got Kathryn's call, he was not enthusiastic about the call at all, but he took it nonetheless. The moment she provided him with the information, he sprang up from the bed. He looked more alive than he'd been the past few days. Needless to say, the last few days had been nothing short of hell for him. He found that he lost interest in everything. He'd often stay indoors. On one occasion, he'd instinctively gotten out of his house at night in a bid to find Anna. He knew that it was silly of him to do that but he couldn't help it. He'd driven back home after driving for hours without any progress at all.
During the few times that he'd gone to the company, he'd noticed the absence of Jaden. He'd asked the rest of the employees who sat close to him about his whereabouts but no one knew where he was. He'd suspected him. He and Jaden were never friends. They rarely talked. He'd been employed by his father, Mr Williams. He had to admit that he didn't like him, particularly when he found out that he was the one that broke Kathryn's heart and made her father bankrupt. But that happened before Xander, started working in the company.
"I'm coming with you, Xander," Kathryn said over the phone.
"It's too dangerous, Kathryn. Let me do this. I don't want to put you in danger. I can't take any chances. If it's Max, you know what could happen. I wouldn't want you to get hurt."
"Anna is my friend, Xander. I want to do this. I want to go with you. I wouldn't be at peace if I don't. Please, Xander let me do this," Kathryn pleaded. She didn't know where the bravery was coming from but she was determined to do this nonetheless.
"Are you sure that you want to do this, Kathryn?" Xander asked again. He knew that she would see Jaden, he didn't want her to get hurt all over again because she wanted to be there for Anna, her friend.
"I'm more than sure, Xander," her voice was firm, there was no hint of fear in it. That was all Xander needed to be sure that she wanted to do this.
"Very well then, but you have to be careful, Kathryn. Whoever this is, he's going to be very dangerous."
Xander informed Davis about the new information and they were all set to save Anna and Jaden.

Anna spent the whole day thinking about Vanessa, she wondered if she was doing alright, especially because the day was her birthday. She hadn't planned on spending Vanessa's birthday in an unknown haunted house. She'd seen her kidnapper a couple of times other than the first time that she saw him. He was the same, he never changed his clothes. He'd often come at night. She couldn't wait to see the bastard's face. He'd told her the previous night that he had a surprise for her today. Whatever it was, she wasn't enthusiastic about it at all, even though he'd said that she would like it.
