Chapter one hundred and eighty-eight
The noisy sound of keys and the creaking of the door made both Anna and Jaden alert. They knew that it was their kidnapper. Jaden was tied to a chair and Anna was still in the glass. She'd almost suffocated in the place. He'd often sedate her to change her clothes to prevent her from knowing the way out of tempered glass. He'd also often sedate Jaden too to accomplish this. She couldn't see him from where she was but she was more than sure that it was him because she'd registered his gait in her head. The sound of his boots was all too familiar now. When he came fully into view, Anna gasped in surprise. This was because she saw him carry a body over his shoulders. He pulled a plastic chair in his other hand. Was the person dead? Worse still the person was wearing a robe. She couldn't see the person's face because her head was hung behind her kidnapper, with her hair covering it. All Anna could see were her legs. What was this man trying to do?
"Anna, Anna, Anna," he said, hoping to get a reply from her, but Anna did not answer him a word.
"Remember the surprise that I told you about? Here it is or should I rather say, here she is." Anna looked up at him, tilting her head and wondering if the person was dead or alive. There was no way that he'd be crazy enough to bring a dead person here. He couldn't be that wild. He dropped the chair on the floor and very slowly, he released his grip from her and placed her on the chair, her head still hung downward, covering her face.
A bag was tied around his waist. He removed a very thick rope from the bag and tied her hands behind the chair. The person didn't flinch and Anna couldn't help but wonder if she was still alive. She watched her keenly to know if she was still living.
It wasn't until the kidnapper left her front that Anna was able to see the front view of the lady, who looked very familiar to Anna. Her body, her thigh which was open slightly also made her more familiar.
Anna's mouth flew open at the realisation of who it was. Her heart stopped working, her palms were clammy with sweat, she held her breath, and her eyes darted. Her eyes couldn't possibly be deceiving her. It was Vanessa- Vanessa Smith, her best friend whom she'd been thinking about all day long.
Anna narrowed her eyes in confusion, her brows furrowed, she couldn't understand what Vanessa was doing here. Why would this man bring her here? Who was he after? Was it both of them or was it just her?
Jaden looked just as puzzled as Anna. He wondered who the woman was, but looking at Anna's reaction, he saw that she definitely knew who the woman was.
"Do you see that I know just how to surprise you, mi amor?" He said looking at her, a half smile crept on his face, beneath his mask which was not noticed by anyone.
"W- Why is she here? Why the hell is Vanessa here?!" Anna yelled, and he hushed her.
"Don't scream, Anna. Well, except you want to be punished by me." He added.
"What else do you think that she's doing here? She's here to keep you company, of course. I noticed how boring he can get sometimes," he said looking at Jaden whom he was talking about.
"That's why I thought of bringing Vanessa here. She should keep you company, especially since I'm not always around to do that," he added. He sounded a little sad.
"Besides I could tell that she was getting sick in your absence."
"Who are you? How do you know Vanessa? Tell me, how did you find her?" She asked, shocked.
"Why the rush, mi amor? You'll know soon- very soon, in fact. But before then, let's wake up the sleeping beauty, shall we? I have to admit that she gave me a little tough time, and she'd have to pay for it." He grabbed a bottle of water from his bag and poured a large content of water on her face. It was cold, very cold and in the next minute, Vanessa shook her head. She rose her head, her eyes were still shut but she was no longer unconscious. Very slowly, she opened her eyes and the first thing she noticed was her surroundings. She tried to move but noticed that she couldn't as her hands were stuck behind her.
She looked ahead and the moment her eyes locked with Anna's her jaw slacked, she was unable to move, she narrowed her eyes and for about two seconds, she said nothing. The moment it registered in her head that it was Anna, she screamed her name.
"Anna!!!! Jesus! It's you, Anna. I can't believe this." Anna's eyes welled with tears, tears streamed Vanessa's cheeks subconsciously too. She couldn't believe that she could see Anna again, but above all, she couldn't believe that she would be seeing her in a glass. How did she get there?
