Into the fear

James looked outside the window. Once he saw what happened to the tyre his face turned sour creating a menace reaction.

"Oh no..." He murmured as he looked at the punctured tyre.

"What happened?" Clara asked worried about his reaction so she immediately went out of the car. She analyzed the car first then she saw the flat tyre of the car.

"Oh wow, I thought that there was something really serious but is because of a flat tyre," she raised her head to look at him frustrated, and then she yelped.

"You fool, I'm sure that you were the one who caused this. Just your words affected the tyre. Even the car disagrees that you actually own the car. Well will you stay there or wouldn't you do something to the tyre since you are the owner?"

"Don't worry, there's a jack in the boot of the car. I'll fix it," Macus said before James could respond to Clara's scolding and then he went to take the jack as he fixed the tyre. Once he was done with type about to enter the car, he turned behind just to see that they were trivial beings.

He moved slowly to get to the door side where the two were arguing.

"Clara, James. You don't get down. Clara, could you lend me your gun?" He asked discreetly enough as Clara lend her gun and then he immediately set the trigger and he began to shoot each being.

James took cover in fear of what was happening. Clara sat in the front seat of the driver's about to use the car to hit the beings instead but then she saw that the same beings were coming towards them so she used another gun as she raised her body at the window side, and then began to shoot the beings.

Immediately Macus saw that he could take cover, he ran to the car as Clara sat in the back seat when she saw him racing towards the door. They took a breath as Macus drove the car as fast as he could.

When Macus was on the road driving fast, James came out from his hidden spot with shivering hands it became cold.

"What just happened?" She spat crux in surprise.

"It seems the plague has occurred?"

"What?"

"As rotten as those beings seem, they are alive but then they don't know what's happening to them. It seems is through contact," he looked at the driveway wary.

"Could you guys stop talking about it? You are literally giving a discordant sensation," James blurted out as Macus mocked his reaction by laughing. Though he knew that this is the first time with that encounter.

"Why are you laughing?" James lour.

"It's not bad to laugh."

"Especially when there's a baby in the house," Clara jested and then James turned to the back to give her a sounding reply.

"I'll be driving us to the airport where the airplane we would use will be available so there's no need for causing another tantrum," Macus interrupted.

"Tell it to him," Clara scowled.

James ignored her words after all there was no use in arguing with her. The two stayed in the car silent as Macus drove, he felt light-headed for that.

Dusk came in dew as the stars brightened in the sky. Macus already began to feel sleepy so he decided to take a break.

Clara suggested that they should probably take sleep outside instead so they went to a shop that was empty taking camp beds.

Luckily James had the equipment they need to use.

They carried the camp bags dropping them on the floor where the environment was full of trees but not much since they knew that the creatures can be around if they are in the forest instead.

They did the camp beds that made them look like a caterpillar ready to sleep for a while in its bag. James slept in between the two.

"Macus," he called.

"Hmm?"

"How are going to paradise? Besides, isn't it going to be difficult since we're on earth?"

"Somethings that are so obvious to us may just seem clueless. I know that we'll be able to make it to paradise. We'll get something at least."

"Yes..." Clara said.

"About the spirits that you said they take a person to their memories to torment...."

"I know that you are confused about this but they are not noticeable. You've seen two but then they will be others that would be very deceiving."

"What past do they show a person?" Clara asked.

"What you wouldn't want to see. The memories which you find callous and raucous." Macus replied.

"Grateful that I don't have one," James said with folded arms and a smile on his face.

"We'll see about that," Macus placed his arms under his head and then he shut his eyes.

"You guys should sleep now, we must be early enough by six to go on the journey," Macus murmured with his eyes closed.

"What? How could you wake us by six? I'm sure that you don't know what the time is," James disagreed.

"Just keep quiet. Not everyone is like you who doesn't have a wristwatch," Clara said with shut eyes. James raised his body to argue with her but since she wasn't interested in his argument, she single-handedly raised her hand to show him her wristwatch.

James became stunned when he saw two wristwatches in her hand. He was sure that he didn't see those in her hand.

"I know what you're thinking, there's no need to think if you'd noticed it. Is possible to make it invisible."

"Okay," James laid back on the bed. "What's the time."

"Nine fifteen," Clara said without checking the watch.

"You didn't even check the watch "

"Sometimes, they are times when you don't need to know the time. You should be the time."

"You are a weirdo," James raved.

"You too..." Clara calmly said, and then she closed her eyes. Finally, there was silence in the environment.

After hours, James woke up hearing an unknown sound, it felt strange at first but the more he tried to recognize the sound it only felt as though someone was fighting somewhere.

He stood up from his bed and he ran in the direction where the sound came from, there he saw that the person was Marcus fighting with a monster.

He ran back to where the bed was as he shook Clara but she was not waking up till he revolved in slapping her. So he slapped her.

"Ahhh!!" She spouted about returning the slap as his tongue became fast in talking.

"Clara, Macus, needs our help at the moment."

Clara turned to Macus' bed side to see if he said the truth. Once she saw that he was not there, she went along with James to the place where he saw Macus and then she saw it for herself. The fight between him and the monster was vicious.

The monster was huge and had wings which were of a dead fly, a Beetle head, and then a human body.

Clara was shocked by the situation, she was about to use her pistol but then she remembered that she didn't bring her pistol along with her.

"James, what do we do now? I don't have my gun with me," she growled in panic, she tried to find something out but then she knew she needed an idea seeing how intense it is.

Macus was on the hitting end and then he was able to pick up back as he gave some blows making the monster weak for some time and he used his opportunity to hit as much as he could.

When Macus saw that the monster was weak to the point it was about to die. He turned about to leave but then the creature was about to touch him.

"Macus, watch out!!!" Clara yelled but then he was too late as the hand of the creature was about to hit him. The next moment came in shock for them.

"No!!!!" Clara scrutinized the area to look for something sharp and once she found it, she used it to brutally hit the creature till it eventually died.

"Noo..." Clara winced as she stared at him on the ground. She looked at the way he showed signs of pain. She knew already that his soul was transported to a place to face fear.

"No..." She wept as she knelt on the ground just to look at his distressed face of his. She touched his face gently which showed so much pain in it.
