Chapter 6 - Sensitive Secrets

Rye’s POV

It took another three to five days before the doctor finally gave me the clear to leave the clinic, I know they’re curious about me and my capabilities, I still keep my guard up every minute of every second I can feel there’s something Vira is hiding from me but I don’t bug her because if I do she gets mad, I get mad then things get ugly and Al has to calm us down but that doesn’t mean I’ll let it go. Alpha Reese has been kind and understanding towards me since he’s knows what it’s like to grow up as a rogue. I’ve also gotten to know the couple that saved us, I still don’t trust them and I definitely won’t hesitate to kill if necessary. On the day of my release Patricia, Harvey, Alpha Reese, Gamma Ron and of course with an overly excited Al came to pick me up. Al seemed hesitant to approach me but then ran to me, gave a quick hug, not what I was expecting but I just let him be. There were two cars parked outside and for some reason they all seemed a little tense but nevertheless gave me warm greetings, Patricia and Harvey got into one vehicle followed by Al while the alpha and gamma got into the other and of course naturally I’d ride with Al but the alpha called me over instead, “ Rye, why don’t you ride with us so we can talk,” I replied curiously, “Can’t we do that in your office?” The alpha replied calmly, “Yes but it will take a while to get there and I want us to get to know each other.” I turned to look at Al and he didn’t seem bothered by it so I complied now more convinced that something is up. In the car the alpha and gamma asked random questions, I answered what I could and ignored the rest they were being careful not to get on any touchy topics, I couldn’t take it anymore, “Tell me what you’re hiding.” The car came to a abrupt stop and it was only then I realised we’d parked in front of a house, well it was a mansion, it was definitely big but not as big as my old pack house. The gamma exited and the alpha turned to me, “Rye, you and Cal are going to be part of the pack soon and I want to let you know that if there’s anything you need or if anything happens, you can come to me, okay”. “That’s not an answer. Wait, did something happen to Al while I was… ” Alpha Reese, “Just know it was already handled and I promise it won’t happen again.” I knew he was still talking but his words fell on deaf ears my gaze stayed on Al, I was the only person he’s ever relied on but there he is hugging a little girl, that’s probably Anna, playing, not bothering to look at me while the Luna, both gammas and even the beta along with a few pups and pack members stood by watching. The little girl pulled Al towards the house and finally he turned and smiled motioning for me to follow but that was also when I caught it, the smell of freshly applied ointment and a faint blood, I had only realised that the gamma held open my car door and stepping out I searched them all for bandaged wound but most of them seemed fine they gave me odd stares but it didn’t bother me I continued searching my wolf knowing full well how much more alert I am in the presence of blood, murmuring broke out I could hear them saying my wolf may have found her mate, my gaze scanned half the crowd before landing on Al, well more specifically his left arm a white material protruded out from his sweater. I knew what he was hiding from me and from the gasps knew that my wolfs eyes were blinking behind my lenses, everyone could feel my power as I approached him, my mind was already hounding Vira for an explanation and of course she growled at me telling me that it was his choice and that he should talk to me. I could see that as much as he wanted to calm me, he wanted to run so I warned him, “Non correre da me, fratellino.” (Don’t run from me, little brother.) Instinctively he pulled Anna behind him with her face to his back, I heard growls from behind me and for some reason I know it was from the Gammas since I felt their power, he kept his gaze downcast as not to look at me, I reached for his arm but he pulled back, “Towi, can we talk inside, youw scawing evewyone.” Then turned ushering a scared Anna into the house. Alpha Reese dismissed everyone and sent his Luna, gammas and beta in before speaking to me after I’ve calmed down, “They’re in the living room, come on.” And just like that I followed him in.

Beta Kade’s POV

The day Al’s sister woke up, I know there was something the alpha wanted to tell us but we were interrupted and it had to wait, I was the first to leave and so I waited in his office till they all got back including the doctor. Now I stand mouth a gaped at what he just said, I couldn’t believe my ears, “She has what?!” Alpha Reese, “Believe me, I’m as shocked as you are.” Beta Rean, ”Could you repeat that?” Doctor Greg Kinroy, “It’s true, Tori has mild traces of two other blood types in her system and so we had to wait a few more days before getting another sample hoping it would be her own and it was.” Beta Kade, “Wait, what does this mean? Is she a half-blood and what about her brother…?” Alpha Reese, “They were able to do more research with the second sample and it clearly shows that they’re both pure blooded alpha’s which explains her behaviour. As to the anomalies in her system, at first we thought she was some unique half-blood but Greg believes there’s more to this and it’s obvious she herself is hiding something, so at my request he did an in-dept. investigation and with what we saw there’s a possibility they’re from a prominent family. And I’ve spoken with Kade, I know you’ve all realised the effect she’s had on us as well as our wolves and I want to know why it’s happening or how it’s even possible.” Doctor Greg Kinroy, “Alpha if I may…” The doctor hesitated, this has to be important and spoke, “I’ve had a colleague from the Blood Knight Pack, we the doctors knew that Alpha Van Ell appointed him specifically for his son after a rumor of the Blood Wolfs appearance was made known 5 years ago and only a few of us know for a fact that the Council established a secret laboratory specifically for further studies on the Blood Wolfs genes.” Gamma Ron, “How were they able to acquire a DNA sample didn’t the last Blood Wolf exist like over a thousand years ago?” Alpha Reese, “Yes and they are the only pack that would have the most reason to have it preserved but what does it have to do with Tori?” Doctor G. Kinroy, “There’s almost no information of this for the public but luckily my father had spent most of his life gathering any information and gave them to me to continue his work.” Luna Aniela, “What’s the connection between Tori and the Blood Wolf?” Doctor G. Kinroy, “According to my father’s research the Blood Wolfs blood composition will have different blood types mixed together, which explains why we were unable to identify her origins, the same thing I see in Tori’s blood and since it’s abilities depend highly on the energy of it’s own blood the body will willingly accept foreign blood and keep it until and unless the wolfs body is able to produce more of it’s own and the cells themselves will attack the foreign cells, restoring itself. This is its healing stage but also the most dangerous as the human side is left vulnerable the wolf will attack at the first sign of hostility, this could also be a reason behind her behaviour.” Beta Kade started getting impatient, “So what are you saying, that she could possibly be the Blood Wolf?” Gamma Ron, “That’s impossible, Alpha Van Ell has sons and two of them are dead and…”, Alpha Reese, “And they claimed that it was the work of a half-blood that started those rumours and that his only remaining son carries the Blood Wolfs survival.” Luna Aniela, “We know his first pups were twins but not who the first one is. Are we even sure they’re two boys?” Alpha Reese, “It’s understandable he’d keep it a secret but one of them were not found as well as the last born, they could be dead.” Gamma Rean, “Is there really no way of confirming the pups genders?” Doctor G. Kinroy, “Alpha Van Ell has specifically restricted such information to his own hospital and the people who’d know of this would be anyone from his pack but after the battle those years ago he’s killed any of his pack members who refused to stay afterwards while those who have found their mates had to move to his pack, no exceptions.” He said the last bit rather angrily, Gamma Ron, “So there’s really no way of finding out?” I looked directly at him and the look he gave said otherwise, Beta Kade, “You know someone, don’t you?” He gave a rather loud sigh and turned toward the alpha saying, “I do know of someone but this person won’t spill not even after almost being rejected by her mate and apparently not even death frightens her.” This time the alpha spoke, “Who is she?” Doctor G. Kinroy, “She’s … my daughter-in-law and she’s one of a few survivors, when she found her mate… she managed to escape the pack and was shortly accepted into another pack up in the north with my son.” Alpha Reese, “We have to talk to her but it has to be a family vacation, we don’t want to raise suspicions.” Doctor Kinroy, “Yes alpha I’ll contact them right away.” As expected the plan worked, the doctor’s family has agreed to come in a couple of days and in the meantime we continue to gather any information we can about the famous Alpha Van Ell’s missing pups. It’s been three days the doctors son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Andrea along with three of their pups got settled in their rooms and now we’re in the alpha’s office discussing the situation lightly as not to alarm them, Alpha Reese, “Welcome, I won’t beat around the bush, the reason I requested your visitation won’t be disclosed until tomorrow although I do hope this doesn’t ruin anything, you can still enjoy your stay as well as your pups.” At first they seemed taken aback but understood as his tone amplified authority. Bill, “Alpha Laden forgive me for asking, as much as I respect you, I practically lied to my alpha so I have to ask…” He spoke with a little annoyance in his tone but his mate cuts him off by putting her hand on his arm, Reese may have a lot of patience, he also has a temper and growled at him, Andrea, ” Whatever the reason may be, it had to be important for so much secrecy, as warriors, the only lives that matters to us is our pups and our alpha family, I guess we can’t do anything further but wait.” Luna Aniela, “As long as you’re here, your safety is guaranteed as well as your pups. I am a mother too so I know how you feel.” The Kinroy family spent the rest of the day bonding with the doctor.
