Chapter 16 P2 3282DYs, 46 Years Old, Waverly, Darkness’s Domain

"Bridgette... she was the Alpha?" I asked with hesitation, looking back up at Darkness with a grim look.

"Yes. Once again, there is a way to bringing her back... but do you understand why she was desperate to be with you before her death? You saved her back then, and she knew you had a mate... she was growing desperate of you while she was many paw-steps away into becoming Alpha. So, when she saw you after what's been... twenty-six years, you've changed drastically over the years... she was surprised by your changes, she just didn't reveal it to you when you met, as she had self-control... unlike Birdy, of course."

I look back at the mist's tv, to which another photo has been shown, and my surprise, it's Birdy. He is on a computer, and the holographic screen features a long message featuring... the name of my half-brother, Hod.

"Your half-brother." Darkness whispered. "Have you even considered... looking a little deeper on the male dog before killing him? You could've known at least who the male, crooked dog was messaging as well... using dear Birdy like his personal breeding dog, just like Bridgette."

My body begins trembling, and I look down at my paws as tears start coming out of my eyes. "O- Oh Legend... I'm sorry, brother. I- I actually forgave him during my time here... I noticed my anger was for nothing in the end of killing him and my father..."

"There's... one more thing." Darkness hummed gently. "You really might wanna see this..."

Begrudgingly, I slowly look back at the mist. A photo during a wintery night in the forest, I see two dead wolf bodies. One in the den, and one outside in the snow. The one in the den was my father, Noir, while the other is Hod. "T- This doesn't explain anything..." I snarled upsettingly. Until, I see a pup slowly coming out of the same den Noir died in.

"Dariuz..." Darkness sighed. "He was lucky he was found by your mother, and though he never knew his parents, Feather took care of him the best she could secretively. But of course, as for any dog back in Earth, she died because of a car, right in front of you too, and you never knew that Dariuz was your stepbrother this whole time... Dariuz however, he knew he was your stepbrother, because Hod told him everything about you."

I hesitantly shift my focus back to Darkness, the feeling of overwhelming grief and sadness stabbing. "H- How... do I bring everyone back...?"

"That's the thing... Hod and Dariuz are still alive. They're Legends... do you know what a Legend is, Waverly?"

"I... I do..."

"Good. In that case... if you are willing now to bring back those you have lost... you have to kill me." To free them, you will have to... kill me. I can't just simply let them go, as each soul expands the dark clouds every dog would see. If I die, every dog's soul will be released, the population will be huge all over again, no more dark clouds, the Red Sun will be no more, and Motherly Herself will revive nature..." Darkness explained with a slight gag. "All of that sounds ridiculous."

"...What's the catch?" I growled before slowly getting up.

"The catch is... if you die, you will be rewarded highly instead of an ending of defeat. Darkness is the highest rank in the Elusive. Overlodest is below me. You're currently the Overlodest, because you killed the Dearest, which grants you the option of either being an Overlodest to serve me... or challenge me to become Darkness if you choose not to free your harem." Darkness explained. The large, thin squares disforms itself for the mist to circle around Darkness defensively.

Suddenly, everything around me turns into a huge, ruined kingdom that is on fire, more specifically, blue fire. This place gives me massive memories of being burned alive in the wooden mansion, just to only save my pups and mates from death!

"Waves Young Waverly... the Big Bad Beagle! Will you face me to save your mates, save these lands from misery, and consider yourself a Legend? Perhaps become Darkness? Or to earn the rightful title, Legend of Lament and Mayhem, as the prophecy claimed for you to be? Or do you wish to die, and soon my side as an Overlodest, and together, we shall harness the souls of the strong and weak until Darkness takes all?"

I begin snarling as loud as I could for Darkness to hear, and unsheathe both of my claws out while my teeth stay bared. "BRING IT!"

"Teeth and claws, huh?" Darkness laughed. "You challenge the Darkness with upmost confidence! A man would coward away from me, but you, I will give you SOME respect!"

My sniper then appears right in front of me. However, not only this is my sniper, but it's completely different, as the color of the whole thing is an iridescent white. The barrel is longer, the base of the sniper is thicker, the stock is a bit wider, the scope is much bigger than before, and they're engravings of paws and "WYW" on every side of the weapon. There isn't even a magazine for this sniper, so maybe this beast can shoot infinite, hopefully magical bullets, plus the trigger seems to be made out of some kind of red material I do not know of.

With a smirk, I sit back down, grip the trigger of the sniper with my metal paw, and use my normal paw to hold the sniper steady while stock relaxes on my right shoulder, and the barrel aims up at the Darkness despite the sniper's heaviness, and without even looking through the scope, I pull the trigger tightly.

Sch-BING!

A glowing bullet flies and penetrates through the Darkness's mist, and soon she howls out in pain. As I was going to pull the trigger again, the sniper immediately transforms into the scope of the sniper out of nowhere, and it just magically sticks to the side of my body. Before I could react, I see an orange color illuminating from the mist, until lava shoots through the mist and towards at me. I quickly got up and start to run to a different position, and lava begins following me from behind follows me as Darkness's silhouette rotates in a circle to try and hit me with the lava.

Finally, after Darkness stops breathing lava at me, I stop running, sat back down, yank the scope out of my side of my body, and start shaking it in confusion. "Come on, I'm going to fucking die!" I snarled, until the scope turns back into the same sniper again.

I do everything again to prepare myself in shooting Darkness again, except I'm using the scope with my blue eye this time to aim professionally at Darkness's silhouette. Soon, I pull the trigger, firing another glowing bullet that penetrates through the mist. However, I don't hear Darkness's cries.

Through my scope however, I see the mist slithering down towards at me mid-air at a deadly speed. But with my quick reflexes, I pull the trigger again, and the bullet pierces and evaporates, and soon Darkness got shot in the head.

I remove my blue eye from the scope and lower my sniper down, and I watch the mist hurriedly diverging away from her lifeless body, before she collapses onto the ground, and her body turns into dust. Did I even win? Where is Fee? Where's Birdy? The Alpha?

I put my sniper on my back, and I begin walking over to Darkness's disappearing body. I notice that the mist is circling around her chains and golden bracelet. I approach the chains and bracelet with caution, but then, the mist immediately stops circling, and the mist swiftly rushes towards me again. With my claws still out, I attempt to slash the mist, but they wrap themselves around my whole entire metal forearm instead of eating me alive. The mist isn't hurting me, but it is moving itself inside of my metal forearm until I can't see the mist anymore. I slightly tilt my head down at the metal forearm curiously. "Don't worry... I don't fuck with you, you don't fuck with me, yeah?" I barked, but then the mist pops out for a second to slap my face before going back inside. "Eh, I deserved that."

The mist then pops out of my forearm again, then it forms itself into a dark arrow pointing at the chains and bracelet.

I resume walking close to the two items, and I examine how they're both shining ominously, as the silver chains are giving off a bright, black hue, and the golden bracelet is shining brightly like any other golden bracelet. I grab the chains first with my metal paw. "I don't know a good name for ya, mist... but Misty, destroy this thing, I don't think it should exist."

The mist, AKA Misty, slowly transfers itself into the chains, and the chains start shaking violently before it cracks, and soon shatters onto my paw. Misty then transfers itself back into my metal forearm.

I look at the golden bracelet next, and right when I was going to grab it with my normal paw, everything around me starts trembling violently like an earthquake, and I can hear shit start falling off the kingdom before a big piece of stone almost lands on top of me. With a panicky yelp, I grab the golden bracelet with my mouth and then look around for an exit, until Misty comes out of my metal forearm in order to create a dark portal in front of me, leading me to what looks like nothing, but without hesitation, I leapt through the portal before another huge rock almost ended my life.
