Untapped Legacy

In the middle of a dimly lit room, a haystack was wiggling as if it were alive. Its thin strands of hay scattering itself around the room like messy clothing.

"Graaaah!" Enzo grunted as he emerged from the haystack.

He emerged like a person who was drowning in the ocean, taking deep gulps of air due to the suffocating atmosphere in the haystack. Enzo swam through the haystack so he could exit it, and flopped onto the cold stone ground beneath him. He took a couple of minutes to catch his breath and recall the events that led him here.

[Fuck! The first hour in this new place and I encounter a big ass monster!? That's absurd!]

He was not injured after emerging from the haystack, save for a few scratches and bruises he took from. the forest during the chase. All of his bones felt intact, there were no fractures or breaks, but he did feel a bit sore. Enzo took this time to rest, he closed his eyes for a few minutes and thought about the wolf that was chasing him which led him to discover this underground tomb of sorts.

[That 'wolf' must've been a new species... this place might not be Earth after all.] Enzo mused.

Enzo slowly raised himself up, and he took a look at his surroundings. He was in a small cubical room, it was not big at all. He walked to one end of the room and used his wingspan to measure the room he was in. Disregarding the haystack, Enzo found the room was only three 'small boys' big. The haystack was smack dab in the middle and took up half of the space in the room.

[It's strange that there is just a haystack here, and how did I not take damage from falling into this huge ass stack of hay?] Enzo was confused, but there were more pressing matters at hand.

He had to find out what type of place he ended up in. There was a small hallway in front of the haystack, dimly lit by torches that were sparingly put on the left. This tomb looked old and decrepit, yet the torches were still up and burning, albeit a bit faint at this point.

Enzo took steps forward toward the first torch nearest to him. He lifted it up from the stand and inspected the flame and the candelabra that he had in his hand.

"Hmm... how could a flame be lit for this long? Could it be the work of technology..." Enzo pondered. "It could be magic, but I cannot say for sure," Enzo added after remembering the wolf.

Enzo put the torch back into its handle and trekked forward deeper into the hallway of the cave. The hallway seemed endless, the torches in front of him could not illuminate enough for him to see the end of the hallway. Nevertheless, he decided to move forward, hoping that there was an end to this tomb.

Thirty minutes.

That was the time that had passed ever since he left that haystack. However, he never truly left. Enzo was tired. He was tired of walking for so long, he felt that he was making no progress. Feeling strange, Enzo turned back around, only to find that the haystack was still right behind him. He was still by the first torch that he picked up, he never left the haystack room after thirty minutes of walking.

[Are you fucking kidding me!? I've been walking for God knows how long, and I haven't found a way?]

[Ah, fuck it.] He resigned.

Enzo put his back up against a wall and let himself fall onto the ground. He slumped onto the ground, dejected, wanting to give up. Enzo's stomach began growling, and he decided to rummage through one of his pockets for the fruit he had picked before. He only had a stalk left, enough for a snack. He looked at his left hand with a frown, sighing after he realized that he only had this much food left and no water.

"I guess I'll save this for later when I need to refill on water," Enzo said.

Wait. Enzo suddenly realized something. If the torches could theoretically be lit up using magic, Enzo might be able to do some magic that could help him get out of this cave or to the end of the hallway. There was no time to sit here and do nothing. Enzo sprung back up onto his feet and walked back into the room with the haystack. He grabbed the pile of hay into small batches and dumped it into a corner of the room. After a couple of minutes, he had successfully moved the entire haystack into a corner.

[Alright, let's give this a shot.]

Enzo proceeded to attempt magic. He had copied actions he had seen in movies when he was younger. He had thought if he mimicked the actions of famous magicians that he had seen in movies and TV shows he would perform magic. He first began drawing inspiration from a certain strange doctor he had seen in a movie. However, to no avail.

[This shit isn't working, let me try the next attempt of magic.]

Before Enzo could try the next piece of 'inspiration', he first had to obtain a wand for him to attempt to do magic. Enzo made his way toward the haystack and rummaged through the stack. Throwing strand after strand behind him, he had finally found a strand that was long and thick enough for him to use as a wand.

"Alright, let me give this a try. I hope Harry has got me." Enzo said.

Enzo readied himself in a confident pose, wand extended in front of him and facing forward.

"๐˜“๐˜ถ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฐ๐˜ด!" Enzo willed.

...

No reaction.

Enzo had thought that this would surely work, as a lot of shows would use books or wands to convey someone's magic capabilities forward, but it did not work this time.

[Maybe it doesn't work like in those movies, maybe I have to try a different incantation...] Enzo thought. [But I don't know any that would will light...]

Dejected, Enzo collapsed onto the ground and threw the strand of hay as far as it could go. The piece of hay flew a few feet before it glided onto the ground. Enzo looked up and saw the hole he dropped down from. There was no sunlight that penetrated through, almost as if the hole was blocked.

"Fuck it man, I'll try tomorrow, I'm too tired to continue," Enzo said depressed.

Giving up, Enzo slowly raised himself to his feet, and walked toward the haystack, intending to use it as a resting zone. He was tired from the events that happened today, and he can finally get a well-deserved rest. Enzo closed his eyes and went to sleep.

As he was about to drift off into a deep sleep, his body suddenly tingled and a warm sensation embraced his entire body. It was a pleasant feeling, almost like he was being massaged everywhere and his entire body was becoming loose and limp. He experienced the sensation of floating. As Enzo slowly opened his eyes, he suddenly found the room he was in to be in a dark-grey hue. There was a filter that somehow was applied to his eyes, allowing him to see the light more clearly, as clouds of white instead of the yellow-orange hue of fire.

"What the fuck!?" Enzo exclaimed, clearly surprised at what he was seeing. "What the fuck happened to my eyes when I was resting?"

Wanting to take in his surroundings, he slowly got up and looked around the room. After scanning one of the corners of the room, Enzo noticed something peculiar. There was a certain part of the stone wall that was highlighted gold. There was a golden glow that enveloped a small part of the wall.

[Now, now... What could this be?]

[It's too early to say... but this is definitely a magical vision of some sort.]

Enzo slowly made his way toward the golden glow, scanning the entirety of the room in the process. He had noticed that there was no other such golden glow in sight, however, the haystack he was just resting upon was glowing white. It was almost a blinding white, due to the muted background it was set in front of. He raised his hand in front of his eyes, blocking some of the light that emitted from the stone brick.

As Enzo was right in front of the golden brick, he suddenly had a realization.

[Wait wait wait. How do I activate this?]

[Fuck it, I'll just try the good ol' trick... touching it.]

Enzo touched the brick. Nothing happened.

[Okay... How about I push it!]

Cupping his hand into an "Italian gesture" he pushed against the brick. The brick slid into its slot, and suddenly a loud rumbling sound spread across the small room. The ground began shaking and the bricks that were in front of him started making way. As the bricks lay aside, it revealed a decent-sized room. Enzo took a few steps into the room, inspecting all sides of the room. However, he couldn't see much as it was just mixtures of gray and gold, he assumed the gold was the important part.

[Okay. I got to figure out how to disable this vision.]

Enzo rapidly closed and open his eyes, and deeply thought about disabling his new vision ability. After a short ringing sound in his head, the muted colors disappeared and revealed a beautiful crimson room, with golden highlights and a massive black carpet with a logo of a hood. At the end of the hallway, there was a plaque with a suit hanging from a stand. Enzo carefully made his way toward the suit, in case there were any traps present. He found himself in front of the plaque, able to read the words it displayed. The plaque was in English. Enzo was shocked when he found out what the plaque displayed.
