20.3 Surgery

Turning to Anna, a nod of understanding was all it took for us to make a beeline for the place. All the while, I was mentally preparing myself for the inevitable sight that I might encounter this time. Something that caused a scream so guttural was bound to be a nasty injury, one that might probably be more than just a broken leg or an open wound.

And I didn't know what I'd do if it was well beyond my own meager knowledge to treat.

Just after a few seconds of power-limping later, we eventually found ourselves in front of our screamer. The medic was clearly shaken as she seemed to back off from the agonizing patient, her eyes widened with shock and fear as she wordlessly moved aside to accommodate me and Anna.

"What's the problem?" I immediately grilled the poor medic.

"I... I-I...."

Well then... That wasn't a good sign. "Anna, take over while I look at the patient."

"On it."
