"If I had to guess... Judging by your body and everything you just told me.... You're probably just over fifteen?" I found myself second-guessing myself.
"Fifteen? Didn't really feel like it...."
What? Again?!
"So you don't feel like you're fifteen?" I asked, keeping my voice calm for as much as possible.
"If I had to follow my gut feeling, I'd say I'm sixteen or seventeen?" Lise cautiously guessed, her eyes still betraying her anxiety from my earlier outburst. "I dunno... Just feels like it, I guess..."
As much as I would've liked to explode from sheer bafflement, I schooled my features as my mind already came up with a few ideas on why this could be the case. Malnutrition was the first thing that came to mind. I was pretty sure that was a thing whenever young girls were just that malnourished. If Lise's growth was stunted, then that would certainly explain the late onset of puberty.
