Chapter 11 Sad Story

When she finished talking about work matters, Mrs. Jiang invited Aaron Liu to return to her house immediately. She had a lot of things to do.

"The day after tomorrow, my granddaugter will return. I want you to come to pick her up at the airport," said an old woman who still looked agile and very excited. Age is no barrier for Mrs. Jiang. She could still take care of the company and also various other activities.

"All right, Grandma. I'll pick her to the airport the day after tomorrow. Are we going straight home?" Aaron Liu tried to confirm where they were going.

Mrs. Jiang was still walking briskly toward the car. Not long after, she stopped and turned to look at the easy man behind her.

Mrs. Jiang had something to say. It seemed like she was thinking or considering something in her heart. What did the kind old lady want to say?

"We're going to the furniture store. There are some things I want to buy before my granddaugter comes back." Mrs. Jiang said to a man getting ready to drive the car. "Do you know of a store that sells nice things?" she asked.

"I'll take you to a store that sells the best furniture in town." Aaron Liu knew his family's favourite furniture store very well. All the items in his ex-fiancée's house were bought there.

It took a little bit of time to get to the store. The two of them were already in a spacious three-story shopping building. From the outside of the building, it didn't look too crowded. It was luck that Mrs. Jiang came when it was a little quiet. Usually, it was always packed.

Like a bodyguard escorting his boss, that's how Aaron Liu looked at that moment. Upon entering, a shop assistant immediately greeted them and provided the best service for them.

"May I help you, Mr. Aaron?" Suddenly a beautiful woman in tight and quite sexy clothes approached them.

Aaron Liu seemed surprised by the presence of a woman who seemed to know him. He observed her, trying to remember something he might have missed.

"Do you know me?" That question came out of Aaron Liu after trying to remember but not finding anything. He was very curious about the woman giving him a meaningful smile.

"Of course, Mr. Aaron. Weren't you the one who gave a lot of furniture to your future wife a while ago?" The woman tried to remind her customer of that. Aaron Liu's charm and good looks cannot be forgotten. The woman could even remember very clearly.

Aaron Liu finally remembered her. She was the one who helped him choose some furniture for his future wife's house at that time. Sadly, their relationship had wholly crumbled to nothing.

The man had been thrown onto the streets without a trace of pity. There was nothing left between them. Even Miranda Choi had cancelled their wedding plans.

"Then, help Mrs. Jiang pick out the furniture this time. I'll leave it to you." Aaron Liu said to the sexy woman in the shop.

"Please follow me, Mrs. Jiang. I'll recommend some brands for you." Wasting no time, the woman led Mrs. Jiang to a room where the store's best collections were displayed.

Mrs. Jiang liked all the designs and premium items there at just one glance. It made her very confused about choosing furniture for her granddaughter's room.

After looking around for a while, the old lady approached Aaron Liu, who happened to be nearby. Mrs. Jiang stood next to him and took a quick look at him.

"I leave all the choices to you, Aaron. It's your job to be my assistant." Mrs. Jiang's words were reassuring. She was entrusting all the choices to a straightforward man who had already saved her several times.

"But, Grandma... what if your granddaugter doesn't like my choice?" Aaron Liu certainly didn't want to make the wrong choice. Moreover, the prices of all the items there were reasonable. He knew very well how expensive all the furniture sold there was.

"I'll take care of that. Your job is to choose a few items that suit your preferences." Mrs. Jiang told the man next to her.

The older woman trusted Aaron Liu with everything. For some reason, Mrs. Jiang felt he was capable enough to be given more responsibility. A certain charm to him made her trust the man she'd only met a few days ago.

With the shop assistant's help, Aaron Liu selected some furniture suitable for a woman's room. Although he still hadn't met Mrs. Jiang's granddaughter, he could at least make his guesses.

After a few minutes, Aaron Liu had finished selecting all the items suitable for the granddaughter in the Jiang Family. He hoped that Mrs. Jiang would be satisfied with his choices too.

"I'm done choosing, Grandma. What do you think, Grandma?" Aaron Liu showed her what items he had chosen. It was a coincidence that the shop assistant had samples on display in the room.

"Your selection isn't bad, young man. It's not wrong of me to ask for your help." Mrs. Jiang complimented the single man beside her.

"Grandma is too complimentary." Aaron Liu looked sheepish at the compliment. It had been a long time since he'd heard someone compliment him.

As soon as they finished the transaction, they left. The goods would be delivered the next day or per the customer's request.

Mrs. Jiang kept staring at the man she was with as soon as she got into the car. There was a curiosity that had been bothering her. It felt uncomfortable to keep it to herself without asking him about it.

"Is it true that you already have a future wife, Aaron?" asked Mrs. Jiang carefully. She didn't want to make the young man uncomfortable with her question.

"It's true, Grandma. But I've been dumped now. She even threw our engagement ring right in front of me. How could that woman cancel our wedding once she heard my family was broke," Aaron Liu explained without covering anything up.

There was nothing he could hide from Mrs. Jiang. It would be a sin to try to deceive someone so kind as to provide him with a decent life and a place to live.

'So this is what makes you so miserable.' Mrs. Jiang murmured quietly and utterly inaudible to Aaron Liu.
