Chapter 13 The Greatest Weakness

Wen Ziyi left the Jiang Family residence with a grumbling heart. She had come to the house, but nothing came of it.

"You bastard! Damn old granny! If you weren't my husband's older sister, I would've taught you a lesson," Wen Ziyi cursed as she walked out of the Jiang Family's luxurious mansion.

The woman couldn't accept every time Mrs. Jiang refused her requests. Not just once or twice, but a dozen times, Wen Ziyi had received a rejection from her sister-in-law. It only added to the hatred in her heart.

As the woman let out a few curses, she didn't realize that Aaron Liu was not far from her. He heard all the words Wen Ziyi said to Mrs. Jiang.

It was pretty shocking for Aaron Liu. He started thinking about an incident they had on their way to work.

"Could it be that woman who paid those men to harm Grandma Jiang?" muttered Aaron Liu very quietly. He didn't want to create suspicion in the woman who had just exited the house.

After ensuring the woman was gone, Aaron Liu rushed inside and went straight to Mrs. Jiang. He had to say something that the woman had said.

Very quietly and carefully, Aaron Liu knocked on the room where Mrs. Jiang was. He couldn't wait to tell that angelic woman.

Knock knock knock

"May I come in, Grandma?" asked Aaron Liu as he knocked on the room door before him.

"Come in, Aaron!" said Mrs. Jiang in the room.

In an instant, Aaron Liu went inside to see Mrs. Jiang. He looked hesitant as he stepped into the room. There was a feeling of anxiety and fear that what he said would cause new problems.

Mrs. Jiang looked at Aaron meaningfully. She could see that he had something to tell her. Indeed it was essential and also not playful.

"What's wrong, Aaron? Did something happen?" asked Mrs. Jiang without taking her eyes off the young man who looked very handsome in his chosen suit.

"I have something to tell you, Grandma." Aaron Liu was silent for a moment before continuing his speech. He had to compose every word he would say to the old lady in front of him. "I heard some unpleasant words from a woman who just left here," he said.

"That woman is my sister-in-law, Wen Ziyi. Did she say any swear words to me?" Mrs. Jiang knew that already—no wonder the woman had said something to vent her anger.

Aaron Liu was shocked to hear that answer. He could see that Mrs. Jiang wasn't surprised at all. At least he was even more convinced that his sister-in-law had evil intentions towards the Jiang Family.

It was unbelievable for Aaron Liu. Such a kind and angelic woman could have someone who hated her so much. It was very concerning to him.

"Has Grandma found out yet?" asked Aaron Liu to make sure. Although his guess wasn't wrong, he just wanted to hear it from Mrs. Jiang herself.

"It's nothing to worry about, young man. It wasn't just once or twice. Wen Ziyi has never liked me. Especially after her husband died a few years ago, she can't seem to accept that she's not what she used to be," Mrs. Jiang explained without covering anything up.

The relationship between the two women could have been better. Wen Ziyi has disliked Mrs. Jiang since becoming her sister-in-law. Various unclear reasons were used as a dividing wall so that she could put distance between them.

However, fate said otherwise. Her husband died of a heart attack. The Wen family business went bankrupt instantly. Inevitably, Wen Ziyi had to rely on the Jiang Family to support her two children, who were still children.

"I'm worried that Mrs. Wen might be planning something evil for Grandmother. Or perhaps those people who blocked us earlier were her messengers?" A sudden feeling of dread rushed into Aaron Liu's heart. He never thought that Mrs. Jiang's life was in danger every second.

"Nothing will happen to me. I'm just afraid that they intend to harm my granddaughter. That's my nightmare every night," Mrs. Jiang said with all the anxiety and fear of what might happen.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Jiang had never worried about anyone more than she worried about her granddaughter. It was both her greatest weakness and her greatest strength.

Her life and possessions had been given to this beautiful woman who had lost her parents a few years ago. An accident that killed her son and daughter-in-law left her with deep sorrow.

"What can I do to make Grandma feel better?" Aaron Liu asked, unable to bear the sadness of the woman who had taken him in.

"I do need your help, Aaron. But not now... one day I'll tell you myself," Mrs. Jiang replied to a young man who seemed to be thinking about the answer.

That answer only made Aaron more curious about Mrs. Jiang's words. A favour that could not be said at that time. What kind of favour did Mrs. Jiang want? Repeatedly thinking about it, he found no answer at all.

With his poor financial situation, Aaron Liu couldn't do anything for the Jiang Family. He could give only limited labour and thought to repay all that kindness.

"I will help Grandma as much as possible. Moreover, you've given me so much already. I would have been a vagrant on the streets if you hadn't picked me up." Aaron Liu was well aware of that. Without Mrs. Jiang, he might have starved to death on the streets.

"Don't say that, Aaron! Everything I do is sincere because I want to help you. Several times, you've even gotten hurt helping me," Mrs. Jiang replied without forgetting everything Aaron Liu had done for her.

They both repaid each other's kindness. Any kindness accompanied by sincerity will be rewarded many times, even though neither expected anything for their service.
