To Find A Killer

"Your Majesty, you wanted to see me," said Mrs.Weber, Rilla's mother. She was shown into the royal parlour where tea was served. Queen Elesha sat behind a table writing a letter to her father of everything that Rilla had told her the day earlier. Her mother had cautioned her on taking the word of a maidservant and assuming that the Kingdom of Blau was involved in their war could be a crime. Against which court? Queen Elesha thought could this woman be tried in Blau,Weiss or Rubicund?

"Welcome, Mrs Weber please be seated and have a cup of tea with me."

"I am aware of your sister's predicament Your Majesty and I am sorry to hear the news, how can I be of help in this situation since my daughter was involved in the crime."

"Yes, that is a matter I wanted to speak with you privately, how well can you keep a secret Mrs.Weber?" Queen Elesha asked her observing the woman before who was rather plump with short curly black hair, and piercing blue eyes and dressed in a simple deep red dress.

"I can keep secrets,Your Majesty? How may I be of service?"

"I need someone to be my eyes and ears in the Kingdom of Blau specifically to find out who would want to poison me. That is the only information I seek now. I was hoping you would be rather tactful and perhaps take on some work in a royal household and do some observing for me on the side."

"Like a spy, Your Majesty?"

"Spy is such a nosey word I'd rather not use in this circumstance since I'm not here to glean information of the inner workings of their court merely the identity of my killer. You will of course have to provide sufficient proof."

"Should I fail you Your Majesty? What then?"

"Well there will be nothing held against you. You and your daughter can go free."

"Thank you, Your Majesty I accept your terms and I am willing to serve on your behalf for the Kingdom of Rubicund."

"No one is to know of this, not even your daughter. This is something you must do alone, if you suspect you are in danger you may write to me personally. I will be there to offer my protection."

"Thank you, Your Majesty."

"That is all, you may leave for the Kingdom of Blau tomorrow, my personal guard and friend will be accompanying you so you are not alone."

"I will do my best not to fail you, Majesty," said Mrs Weber getting up to leave.

"Summon Jasper to the royal parlour," ordered Queen Elesha to a guard stationed outside the door of the royal parlour. He left at once and to the next guard she said, "send this to Jem to make sure he chooses a messenger to see to it that this letter reaches my father soon." "Yes, Your Majesty," replied the other guard.

"Your Majesty, you wanted to see me," asked Jasper her close guard and friend from the Kingdom of Weiss. She had made certain he and Jem had gotten a place to stay near the palace.

"You are to accompany a widow by the name of Mrs.Weber to the Kingdom of Blau tomorrow, to find out who may want me dead." "See to it that she is protected and both you and her return to Rubicund alive. You leave tomorrow."

"Very well, Your Majesty, I shall make preparations then."

"Stay safe dear Jasper."

"I will, Your Majesty."
