2010 October...
It had already been more than an hour since Savannah left home and yet she wasn't back.
Amanda was starting to get worried and was anxiously passing around the living room.
" Why is she not back yet. She told me she'd be back by now, I should have never let her go". Amanda thought to herself. After a few minutes, Amanda felt worried so decided to call her.
The phone rang for a while but she didn't pick up. She called again but the same thing.
Amanda started getting more anxious so decided to call Nathan.
" Hello?"
" Good afternoon ma'm".
" Oh, uhm, is Savannah still with you?"
" No, well, she left like 30 minutes ago. Is something wrong, has she not returned yet?"
" Well, no, don't worry, she'll probably be back soon". Amanda said before ending the call. She sat down to think about what Nathan said, if Savannah left his house a while ago, then why is she not home yet? Where could she have gone to?
Amanda started to think of the things that could happen to Savannah. She thought about it so decided to go out to look for Savannah herself.
Amanda stood up and approached the front door, she was about to open the door when Savannah opened the door. Amanda was shocked and just stared at her, Savannah looked like she'd just gotten into a fight, her clothes were covered in dust and her jeans were torn. Her hair was in a mess and she was breathing heavily.
" Water, I need water". Savannah said as she stumbled to the couch, breathing heavily.
" Don't worry, I'll get some water", Amanda said as she hurried to the kitchen to get a glass. Savannah coughed and fell to the ground. "Here you go", Amanda said as she gave the glass to Savannah, " Where have you been, Nathan said you left his house 30 minutes ago". Amanda said as she helped Savannah to the couch.
Savannah didn't reply and kept her gaze away from her mother's.
" Savannah! I'm talking to you". Amanda said already getting angry.
"Mom," Savannah said softly, " I was attacked".
" What! Was it the killer".
Savannah didn't reply, instead kept her gaze away from her mother's.
" Savannah I'm talking to you!" Amanda yelled as she shook Savannah abruptly.
" Yes! Yes it was the killer", Savannah yelled as she stood up from where she sat, " You told me not to go out of the house but I didn't listen to you, now look what has happened". Savannah said before sitting down and using her hands to cover her face.
Amanda didn't say anything for a while instead she just sat next to Savannah and hugged her.
" It's okay dear, everything's going to be alright". Amanda said as Savannah weeps while still hugging her.
After a while, Savannah stopped crying and pulls away from her mom.
" Savannah?" Amanda said as Savannah wiped her tears, " Why really happened after you left Nathan's house?"
The question made Savannah turn to look at her mother who was staring back at her.
" I don't understand, what do you mean" Savannah said in confused tone.
" I mean that you should tell me how this incident occured". Amanda said, looking at Savannah straight in the eye.
" Actually, I don't remember much of what happened. After leaving Nathan's house, I decided to take a walk round the neighborhood and then... that's all I remember before I woke up and saw myself somewhere in the side of the road".
Amanda didn't say anything for a while but instead just stared at the floor.
" You woke up, somewhere at the side of the road? That's strange, has it ever happened before?" Amanda asked, curious, Savannah had never told her of anything like this happening to her before.
" No, but sometimes before I go to bed, I'd like to talk a walk or write down what has happened tht day".
Amanda seemed a little confused before saying, " Okay? Go and freshen up, I'll prepare dinner in the meantime ".
" Okay mom". Savannah said before rushing up to her room.
After Savannah left, Amanda couldn't believe her ears, how could it be possible that Savannah lost consciousness for over 30 minutes and randomly woke up by the side of the road. Amanda couldn't understand it, was Savannah lying to her?
" That girl, I just can't understand her". Amanda whispered to herself before going to the kitchen.
Meanwhile...
Savannah rushed up to her room and locked the door behind her. She went to her closet and picked out a purple hoodie with the inscription, 'cheer up' and matching shorts before going to her bathroom. She came out a few minutes later fully dressed in the outfit she picked out.
She then approached her bed and brought out her phone from her purse. After scrolling through it for a while, she went through her chats and saw a message from Nathan, it read,' Hey, your mum called me and asked where you are, what's going on, where are you?"
Upon reading the text, Savannah got confused, Nathan sent the text like an hour ago, which meant that Amanda called him not long before that, she left home like 2 hours ago. That meant that an hour after she left, Amanda called Nathan and then he texted her and this was all a few minutes before she returned, so where was she when Amanda called Nathan?
This whole confusion made Savannah to call Nathan.
The phone rang for a while before Nathan answered, " Hi, what's up".
" Nothing, actually, did my mom call you?"
" Yeah, she did, she was looking for you apparently, why are you asking?"
" Oh, nothing, I'm just a bit confused about something ".
" What is it ? You can tell me anything ".
" It's just that, I feel like I'm forgetting things . Like, when my mom called you, at that time, I don't remember where I was". Savannah said as she stood up from where she sat and unconsciously touched her neck.
" Oh, if that's the case, I think you should visit someone, like a therapist or something".
"Are you sure, I mean is it that serious?"
" I mean, if you're forgetting things that often, then I think you should visit a therapist, it could be something even more serious ".
" You're right, maybe I should visit a therapist, thanks ".
" For what?"
" For helping me, when I need you".
" Don't worry, I'll always be there for you". Nathan said as he cut the call. Savannah smiled as she remembered his last words...
