Erase her memories

Amber shut her eyes, waiting for the excruciating pain to hit her.

It never came.

Instead she heard a painful groan and a thud, followed by more screams as the guests began to scramble out of their seats, making a mad dash for the door.

Amber snapped her eyes open. The moment her eyes landed on the sight before her, she felt her entire world cave in.

Her father lay before her in a pool of blood, holding his side as blood gushed out from the gunshot wound. In the split second she closed her eyes, Benjamin had stepped in the line of the bullet, taking the death blow meant for his daughter.

"FATHER!",Amber screamed and from then on, everything seemed to happen in slow motion.

She grabbed the hem of her wedding dress and raced towards her father's side, her screams echoing in her ears. She paid no attention to Velma, or Draco. Nor the numerous bodyguards that tried to hold her back.

Velma lifted the gun again and pointed it at Amber, a crazy smile taking over her face. As her finger pushed the trigger backwards, there was a blur of movement.

In a flash, Draco was gone.

And he appeared before the blonde woman. His hand grabbed the gun and knocked it out of her hands.

"You know you can't defeat me Draco",Velma snarled as her eyes bled black and her fangs emerged. "I'm as ancient as you are"

"Take care of everything",Draco snarled coldly and his bodyguards went into action. Six figures blurred and in the next instant, they slammed into the two men that flanked Velma, knocking them out.

A dozen went after the crowd, knowing they would have to use their hypnosis ability to wipe off their memories.

Velma rammed into Draco and the two creatures became entangled in a brutal fight. Their figures could hardly be seen as they moved so fast, blurring out. A second they were there, and the next they weren't.

"I'll kill your little bitch after I kill you",Velma growled breathlessly and attacked Draco with both fangs and claws.

Oblivious of the fight going on between the two inhumane creatures, Amber threw her body over her father and screamed for an ambulance. His blood seeped into her dress, turning the dress a deep red.

Benjamin tried to hold his daughter one last time, but he was fast losing his consciousness. The last thing he saw was his daughter's tearful face before he succumbed to the darkness and his eyes glazed over in death.

Holding her father's lifeless body in her embrace and crying her eyes out, Amber finally noticed that there was a raging battle in the hall.

Before her astonished eyes, she watched as Draco and the woman called Velma attack each other, moving at such inhuman speed that Amber thought she was hallucinating.

Terror took hold of her when she saw how dark and soulless their eyes were. And right there, Amber finally realized that Draco was not an ordinary man. He wasn't even human.

Then what was he?

Lost in thought, she didn't notice Arty move towards her and the next thing she knew, he lifted her from the ground.

Because of the shock of the events playing before her, she didn't struggle as he carried her out of the hall. Blood dripped from her dress, trailing after her as she was carried away.

Her eyes remained locked, first on her father's lifeless body, then on the blurring figures still engaged in a fight. The last thing she saw before the door closed was Draco holding Velma by the throat.

He plunged his hand into her chest and ripped out her heart.

...

It was midnight by the time Draco returned to his estate. The work of erasing the memories of the humans who witnessed the strange occurrence hadn't been easy. He and his trusted bodyguards had to erase every single memory of that day, even up to the wedding.

If the humans didn't remember the wedding, then they wouldn't remember the words that Velma said and the strange things that happened after.

He arrived at the house through the roof and dropped to the ground lightly.

Arty and Wendy were waiting for him when he stepped into the living room.

"Master, is everything under control now?", Wendy asked worriedly.

"Everything is fine now",Draco replied. "The humans won't remember a thing about the events of today"

"How did Velma find us?",she asked.

"She left the realm years ago, after I rejected her proposal",Draco said, remembering past memories. "No one has heard of her for years. Until today"

Velma had been obsessed with him when they were still living in the realm, the home of the Vampires. When he rejected her marriage proposal, she was livid and she stormed out of the realm, disappearing into the human world and going into hiding. Many years passed with no sign of her.

Draco knew it was the news of his wedding that made her reappear again, still with her obsession over him.

"Maybe we should go back to the realm Master",Arty suggested. "We would be safer there from the eyes of the humans"

"No!",Draco rejected the idea instantly. Going back to the realm was out of the question. He still remembered why they left. And he swore never to go back there.

"We will not return to the realm",he said in a voice that left no room for argument. "Our kind has lived in secret among the humans for years. I'm not about to change it now"

Arty and Wendy exchanged worried looks. They knew Draco would never agree to return to the realm.

"But Master",Wendy said tentatively. "What about Amber?"

Draco shut his eyes. Amber had seen what she wasn't supposed to. She had seen the strange powers they possessed, sneaked a peek into the lives of the night creatures. He had to do something about it.

"Have you placed her under hypnosis?",he asked Arty.

"No Master",Arty shook his head. "She locked herself inside the room the minute we arrived home"

"I think she is still in shock over the death of her father",Wendy said worriedly. Amber hadn't even responded to her knock when she took dinner up to her.

Draco stared up the stairs. He had no choice but to wipe her memories. If Amber discovered his secret, there was no telling what she would do. And if she tried to let everyone know, he would have no choice but to kill her.

Killing Amber was out of it. As much as he hated the thought of being married, he didn't regret marrying her. And if he really wanted to know why he was so drawn to her, he needed her alive.

He would have to erase her memories of everything that happened that day.

"I will place her under hypnosis",he said finally. "And erase her memories. Everything else should go back to normal from tomorrow"

"Yes Master",Wendy and Arty bowed as Draco walked towards the stairs. He had taken off his tux and the inner white was stained with black blood.

He unbuttoned it as he climbed up the stairs to his bedroom. As he walked through the little hallway towards the room, he froze.

He turned his head slightly and sniffed the air. There was a faint scent in the air. Like someone had been standing at that exact spot a few seconds ago.

He sniffed again and the scent of wild roses assailed him. His eyes slowly opened and he glared at the door to his room.

Amber had been standing at the stairs not too long ago.

And she had been eavesdropping on their conversation.
