Ezra wasn't sure how the system equated these stats of his to the real world and other awakened, but in video games, 10 was the base stat for everyone, so seeing his at 8 and 6 really showed him how weak he was.
'Heh, really now.' Ezra sighed with a bit of exasperation in his voice.
After thinking about it and observing the stat screen for a while, he also figured out that there was no indication for level, 'maybe levelling up isn't a thing?'
After much look around the stat screen, he closed it, before the thought that an inventory must also exist if this was a game system kind of thing. Just like he did the status, he called out the 'inventory' and it appeared on the side, then he went ahead to do away with the stat screen.
Ezra was quite surprised now to see how many empty slots he had in there. He didn't exactly settle to count, but there were at least a hundred free slots in the inventory. Perhaps, the reason why he didn't do the counting was because something had caught his attention. There was actually something inside the inventory's first slot. It looked like a gift box.
'Hmm, I wonder.'
He took out the box and saw that it was a white box with blue ribbon used to pack it. He was going to draw out the ribbon and see what was contained within the box, but he then paused to read the description that appeared above the box.
He was wondering how the box got there, but it seemed like it wasn't anything out of the ordinary.

[Beginner's Gift Box]
This is your gift box for reaching Level 1.
Open Box?
..
Seeing that, Ezra touched on the indication that was highlighted, and then confirmed the prompt that appeared asking if he wanted to open the box. "Yes."
The box in his hands immediately spun around, causing him to let go of it, but it still remained in the air before into strands of fibre and dissipating into the air like it never existed.

[You have received]
- +3 Stat points
- +3 Skill points
- Low Mana potion x3
- Low Health potion x3
- Exclusive Item (Random Skill Book x1)
..
Looking at these, Ezra couldn't help but feel that the system was being very generous. It really didn't want him to die miserably. And the skill book, he just couldn't wait to find out what was contained in it, and it made his heart pound a bit excitedly from anticipation.
Ezra checked his stat and found that the stat points and skill points had reflected accordingly, and the other items had been placed in his inventory.
The suspense was killing him, so he quickly took out the skill book from his inventory and held it in his hand. The description of the book read..
..
[Random Skill Book]
Upon use of this item, one random skill will the gotten.
The skill gotten is irrespective of luck of the user.
..
Reading the description, Ezra didn't really care. One bad skill was better than none. Besides, there was always a possibility that he could get a legendary skill, who was to say?
"Open." He said, quite audibly.
Just like with the gift box, the old style book he held in his hand gradually deteriorated and turned into wisps of energy that flowed into his body. Then, a notification rang in his head, as the still unfamiliar system voice read out the notification before his eyes to him.
..
[You have learned a new skill, Endurance(Passive)]
..
"Endurance, huh? Not bad actually, and it's passive." Ezra said to himself in a comforting way. He did really wish for a better skill, but this one wasn't too bad, the thought. At least, it was better than nothing. To get a skill just like that was like a blessing. Even the powerful hunters don't get new skills like that, and it was not like he had ever heard of something like a skill book before, or anything of that kind.
Ezra opened his status panel to find the skill there under his passive skills, and then touched on it to bring out it's information.
