After the hair do over, Ezra made his way back to his home town, which was in fact, a city. He found that he suffered from little fatigue since he wasn't killing any monsters, and he even added ten free stat points to his agility to improve his speed and travel time. Ezra made sure to choose carefully where which route he took, so that he could avoid authorities and every other possible unfortunate meeting.
Travelling through the entire night as fast as he could, he managed to arrive at his general destination before noon the next day. He quickly found out that at the level he was at, his speed was very impressive during fights, but when it came to long distance travelling, he seemed to be a bit slower.
"I'm finally here." Ezra said, his breath a little unstable. He took breaks on the way obviously, so at the moment he wasn't as tired as he should be, but overall, he was exhausted.
Ezra didn't head into the city, rather, he remained on track on the outskirts and took a round trip to the orphanage. The orphanage was located a bit around the suburbs, so it was closer to the outskirts. By the time he arrived, the time was already somewhere between one or two pm.
'This is a good time.' He thought to himself.
All the younger children in the orphanage were of age to attend school, so they would naturally not be at home at that time of the day, so he would have time to talk to Margaret.
Ezra was already before the orphanage, but his heart felt a bit heavy. He was supposed to be dead, so he wasn't sure how he was going to present the situation. He obviously couldn't tell anyone about what the real situation was at the moment…
Ezra summoned courage from within and walked through the back door into the house. As things would happen, Margaret was standing just in front of the door and saw him as he entered. Seeing someone enter like that, she paused for a minute as her instincts were just about flaring off, but the person who entered was a familiar face, one she had recently mourned. Standing before Ezra, Margaret felt a rush of different emotions, and ran to hug him. As she did not, she held him tightly in her arms with a few stream of tears rolling down her cheeks.
"I knew you were alive.. I knew." She said, and repeated, in a muffled tone.
After about a minute of hugging Ezra, Margaret let go of him with a happy smile on her face, mix in with tears and the emotion of the moment. "Come, you have to tell me what exactly happened." She said.
'Straight forward as ever.' Thought, Ezra, as he followed behind her into the dining room.
Margaret was like a mother to him, so naturally, even though he would be rewarded for lying as it was, she was one of the people he couldn't lie to.
"First off, I can't tell you everything, because you knowing too much might turn out bad." Ezra said.
Hearing this, Margaret became weak. For someone to say something like this in such a situation, it naturally meant they had passed through a lot or similar. Hearing this statement brought tears to her eyes again, but she held it in and wiped her eyes. Surely, instead of bombarding Ezra with questions, it was better to let him explain and do the talking.
Ezra went on to explain some of the things the best he could, and left out most of the important parts like the system and the fact that he was now a kind of person called a Sinner. He could tell, if she was to know his current situation, she would feel even more heart broken.
He had a long talk with her about many things, how the children were, Cassie, how they had been fearing and all that. Ezra also found out that the incident was indeed reported on air and the news was quite the popular one these days, but the best part was the names of those that died in the incident were not publicized.
Ezra was indeed a hero in the eyes of the children in the orphanage, and after one of them found out the truth of what happened the day the association came to inform the orphanage that Ezra had passed away, he spread it to the other children, and to say the least, the effects were not good.
After tabling before Margaret everything, Ezra didn't expect that his nanny who was like a mother to him would actually be the person to help him in such a time.
Ezra's plan was simple, since he was a dead man, he would stay a dead man. With that plan, he needed a new form of identification, obviously, a fake one, that was the only way. Luckily for him, Margaret knew someone who could help, and after putting through a call, it was arranged and Ezra was going to meet the person later in the night. Turned out, in her younger days, Margaret was quite a rogue, so she would know some of such people.
'Makes sense now why we live in such a shitty place but never get trouble with the local thugs.' Thought, Ezra. Turned out, Margaret had that dawg in her.
After much discussion, feeling more powerful now, and that his future was bright, Ezra was naturally not comfortable with the way the orphanage had become, he had been for a long time. Whenever he brought up the topic, Margaret could always put it away, but this time he vowed in his heart that he would allow her to live a life of the wealthy no matter what. He had always had this in mind, but now he had the power to achieve that. He did notice the days where she would starve herself just to make sure the children eat and similar things.
'You're not old yet, you still have time and are still able to enjoy much. I'll make sure you can live happily without a worry, all of us.'
