System Mission

Ezra quickly found out that he wasn't at all bothered about the deaths of other people and really couldn't care less, even though he thought that he should have. In the end, he was the cause for their deaths.

'Maybe I really should help them.'

"Arrogant bastard. You have angered a member of our gang, do you remember Von and Ron?" Jax said, with a little smile on his face.

While Jax was saying this, Ezra was being distracted by something else. Just a moment ago, before Jax answered him, a system panel appeared before his eyes, and it was actually a mission. The content of the mission however, pretty much aligned with Ezra's thoughts.

[Mission]

Kill the three enemies before you.

Reward: Unknown

'I even have a choice? It's not bad.'

Of course, Ezra picked the first choice. While this was happening, Jax had said a bit more that what Ezra had picked up, and he didn't really care much.

'If you are going to kill someone, then just do it. Why waste time with all this villain talk?' Ezra thought to himself.

"Are you too scared to even move or respond in anyway? I expected more from you, though? So-" Jax said, as he walked towards Ezra. Seeing how he was at the moment, Ezra saw a chance.

"Shut up already. Don't you get tired of talking?" Ezra said under his breath, but enough for Jax who was now a few feet away to hear.

"What was th-" Jax said, but didn't get to finish his sentence.

BOOOMM!!

It all happened too fast and no one could react on time. In just a moment, Ezra was standing behind where Jax stood, holding part of Jax's arm in his hand.

'This has never happened before. Guess I forgot to let go.' Ezra said in his mind, while he calmly placed his focus on the other two.

Astro who stood farthest from Ezra immediately got an idea, but quickly abandoned it in fear.

Everybody's eyes trailed to where the sound had just come from, and through the little dust covering the area weakly, they could see Jax's figure, crushed into the rocky wall and without an arm.

"Still alive?" Ezra said under his breath as he sensed something. Giving no chase for error, he blurred out of everyone's vision again, and the next thing that followed was sound.

BOOM!

Everyone looked back at Jax and noticed that his body was now disfigured beyond recognition. In that instance, although only a single sound blasted out, Ezra had managed to throw a few punches. Jax's face was bashed in and could no longer be called a face, and same was the case for some other parts of his body.

When Ezra turned his gaze to the others, all they could see was a devil standing before them, as an invisible aura emanated from Ezra's body.

The reason why he attacked Jax like that was because he was the closest and had let his guard down from overconfidence, and that Ezra really didn't want to find out his armour and other equipment could do. Even though He was C rank, with the armour, sword and all, he could have become pseudo B rank. There was no need to take chances. Now that the bigger threat was taken care of, the little ones could be faced without worry.

As Ezra took one step, Astro's body jerked a bit. To think he had almost moved without thinking, to attack this demon before him. The moment Ezra took a second step, Astro didn't even think about it and sprinted away, as fast as he could.

'This is the best option! With that strength, he should be a brawler or something. There's no way he can catch me!' Astro assured himself, as he made his escape.

Just after two second, a feeling dawned on him. All the times Ezra moved, he who was speed oriented actually couldn't follow his movements.

BAM!

Ezra pounced on Astro and using his leg, stepped on his head from behind and drove it into the ground, crushing his skull and killing him instantly. Ezra took off his leg and saw that his shoe was smeared with grey matter and blood, truly a disgusting sight. He immediately switched out those shoes for new ones.

Before he gave chase to the fleeing Astro, he took care of the third party by bashing his head into the nearby cave wall.

Tud Tud Tud Tud

Ezra's footsteps sounded, as he walked back, alerting everyone that he was coming.

'Someone vomited. Was it her?' Ezra asked himself, as he looked at the vomit on the ground before him, then his eyes trailed to the one he suspected.

"I-I-I-It wasn't me! It was him!" The young lady said in fear and stumbled backwards. The one she pointed too stiffened as Ezra's eyes landed on him.

"Heh.. You know, you all could at least thank you savior, you know? You would have died if not because of me killing those gu- mm?"

[MISSION COMPLETED]

[The reward for completing the mission has arrived]

[You have obtained one Skill Scroll]

Ezra looked at these notifications and a smile appeared on his face. He actually got a skill!

Due to circumstances, he naturally would not take out the scroll in front of these eyes, so he left it in his inventory. Good thing that option existed for his to just store the reward there, instead of it appearing before him.

Ezra immediately had a great idea and moved towards the Jax's corpse.

'Damn! I should have planned it! Now the armour is contorted in some places.' Ezra said in his mind. The places he had hit were naturally affected.

'this should be fixable.' He said in his head, before bringing Jax off the wall and looting his corpse like a grave robber.

When he was done with Jax and had acetified that there was nothing of value left on him, he turned to the third one who the others had moved away from. Unfortunately, this one seemed to not be as rich as Jax, so naturally his gear wasn't all that impressive, so Ezra left him. If only people walked with their wealth around, he would just rob them.

'Fuck! I messed up! I should have just hit them a bit and have them compensate me for sparing their lives, these type would normally not persevere is there was no gain.'

Ezra had learnt his lesson for next time. As for the others, they were in this situation because of him, so he simply abolished the thought.

After some bonding and threatening, Ezra got all of them to tell the common story.

"Remember, the boss was too strong and those three were heroic enough that they ended up sacrificing themselves to save us. They are true heroes!" Ezra narrated to the rest. After assuring that everything was alright, they walked out of the dungeon.

Ezra had thought of how to play the happenings, but then, it wasn't unusual for people to lose their lives during dungeon raids. That was precisely why the job was high paying, because one could really die at anytime.

Bleehhhh

"Christ! Be a man and hold it in! Haven't you killed monsters before?! Even the women are not throwing up!" Ezra exclaimed, after the same man threw up as he saw the corpse of Astro and his shattered head.
